Our Ladies Team gained promotion to the Womens Southern Regional League, part of the Womens National Football Pyramid, for season 21/22 and are a very important part of our club as we grow and develop female football from only 1 team in 2019 to 24 for season 2023/24. This growth includes a development squad which aims to support our U16 - U19 players make the transition into a good level of senior female football and eventually into our first team.
We are creating a structure within our female teams where girls can join our club at a young age and develop through a clearly defined player pathway into our first team as we have on the male side of the club.
Our Ladies team entered the Women’s FA Cup for the first time during the 20/21 season and successfully won through three rounds before being knocked out by national league Buckland Athletic. In 21/22 they went one better before losing a local derby to higher league Eastleigh in front of nearly 400 spectators.
Last season with increased prize money the Ladies won through three rounds including a penalty shootout against Eversley and California before losing to Actonians who play two leagues above. Most of the prize money won from this tremendous cup run will be reinvested back into Senior Womens football at our club.
The ladies have adapted very well to the Womens Southern Regional league and finished a very credible fourth in their first season and very narrowly missed out on promotion last season.
Both the FA Cup runs and our current league position has brought great pride to the club and gives us further momentum to grow and develop female football at AFC Stoneham whilst realising our goals and ambitions.
All new players are very welcome to join the squads for training. Please contact:
