AFC Stoneham vs Bournemouth Poppies
AFC Stoneham continue there unbeaten run with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday afternoon. The win extends there unbeaten reign by 8 wins on the bounce and pushes them up to 5th in the league.
Before kick off both teams and supporters came together and payed their respects for remembrance day with a minutes silence and the laying of the wreath. AFC Stoneham started us off for the afternoon from kick off –but Bournemouth where the first out of the two teams to have a chance at goal. A free kick which Marcus Cullen takes, it meets the head of the defender and Tom Parker-Trott makes the save. AFC Stoneham had themselves some great chances too when Diego Romero finds some space and shoots but his shot is well over the crossbar and is out for a goal kick.
It didn’t take long for AFC Stoneham to find the opener, it took eight minutes for them to do so. Diego Romero plays the ball through but the defender picks up the short pass and clears the ball however the clearance was too short as it falls to the feet of Cal Laycock who plays, a quick pass which meets Jake Thomson at the back post and he taps it in to the net making it 1-0 to Stoneham. Again AFC Stoneham have a chance to make it 2-0 when Ryan Penny has a shot from the edge of the box but it goes wide of the post and out for a goal kick.
AFC Stoneham had to wait just 11 minutes to add the scoreline again when Diego collects the ball from the Bournemouth half, he makes quick work of dribbling past the Bournemouth players before playing a perfect ball through on goal to Cal Laycock whois first to it and puts the ball into the back of the net making it 2-0 after 19 minutes. AFC Stoneham up the energy levels as well as the intensity and could have a few more goals before the break but Bournemouth hold on under the pressure and welcome the half time whistle.

Bournemouth kick us off for the second half and once again put under pressure by Stoneham who have chances to make it 3-0when Tommy Barnes plays a great ball over to the right hand side to Diego who dribbles through Bournemouths midfield and passes to Cal who shoots but his shot hits the crossbar. Stoneham make there first substitution of the evening with Jake Thomson making way for Scott Hills. Scott Hills makes a quick impression with just being subbed on when he plays a perfect ball into the box in which Jim Orvis meets but his header just lacks the power behind it as Harry Gravett catches and clears the danger for Bournemouth.
Bournemouth make there first substitution as well with Sami Garcia coming off and Elliot Hartnell Baker coming on. Bournemouth have there first real chance of the second half when Conor Jevon finds himself in some space and shoots but his shot is well over the crossbar and doesn’t cause Tom in goal any trouble. A second change for both sides is made with AFC Stoneham taking Cal Laycock off and Nathan Clements on and for Bournemouth Lee-Brad Hansel off and Jonny Efedje on. Bournemouth have another good attack at goal when Lewis Chamber puts a great ball into the box but Ronan Galloway is the quickest to the ball headers it out for a corner. AFC Stoneham make there third and final change for the afternoon where Diego Romero comes off for Duarte Martins.
The pressure pays off for Bournemouth in the end as in the 82nd minute they are awarded a penalty after a slightly misjudged tackle, Tyrone Carkett scores and Bournemouth are back in the game 2-1. Bournemouth are quick on the attack as Marcus Cullen again from the edge of the box finds himself in space and tries a shot at goal Tom is quick to save. However there pressure is cut short as 8 minutes later the referee blows the whistle and it’s full time, giving Stoneham another win.
