AFC Stoneham - COVID-19 Update

Dear All Managers/Coaches

AFC Stoneham have taken the decision to cancel all games on Jan 3, 9 and 10 that any of our teams may be involved in plus all training during the week commencing January 4th.

Whilst we understand that junior/ youth football is allowed under current Tier 4 guidelines the main relevant messages within government guidelines are to stay at home, do not travel and only mix outside with one other adult from another household.

As at Dec 28 positive cases in Eastleigh have risen 140.6% in the last 7 days over the previous 7 days (Dec 15-21).

We do not therefore believe it is responsible to both organise and encourage children and adults to travel and meet in groups at this challenging time. Mitigating the spread of Covid 19 and the health and safety of everyone at the club has to be of paramount importance.

As a, hopefully, responsible and reputable club, we believe we have an obligation to undertake clear action on an obviously very serious situation with current Covid 19 case numbers rising.

We do understand that there will be varying views, which we respect, however as a club we feel we should take a single course of action. We will review the situation on January 7/8 and update everyone immediately on our decision in respect of Jan 11 onwards.

Your help and support at this challenging time is hugely appreciated.

Kind regards,
Mark Stupple

Chairman
