Blackfield& Langley vs AFC Stoneham Match Report

Debut delight for Ovington, which sees him score the winning goal and earn Stoneham 3pts on the road.

Stoneham make two changes from their 2-0 win against Newport IW (FA Cup) at the weekend. We see Jamie Ovington and Nathan Clements come jn for Ben Clarke and Lewis Nagle. Purps started the first half brightly and could off gone 0-1 within 5 minutes, when Nathan Clements played a great ball in from the right, Duarte Marion’s jumps to meet but it skims his head and goes out for a goalkick. The attempts kept mounting for Stoneham when in the 28th minute Jim Orvis whips in a ball from the left hand side it meets Scott Hills who shoots but it’s just wide of the goal. Stoneham created enough in the first half but our end product in the final third wasn’t there.

No changes made at halftime by the Stoneham manager and Martins kicks us off for the second half. The Purps were quick off the mark in the second half as we continued where we left off, as 13 minutes in Duarte Martins wins a free kick 30 yards out, which Jim Orvis takes he plays the ball in but nobody there is compete for the ball and its an easy save for the keeper. 59thminutes we make our first substitution of the game, Nathan Clements goes off and Lewis Nagle comes on. The substitution works as 3 minutes later Stoneham win a corner which Mat Bainbridge takes, whips a great ball in into the box Jamie Ovington is the highest and he headers it into the back of the net 0-1. Martins has a chance to make it 0-2 when he goes one on one with the keeper he shoots but it comes off the post and back into play. Martins is on the receiving of a mistimed tackle which sees the Blackfield& Langley player sinbinned and Martins substituted – Cian Cleary comes on. We make one more chance before the full time whistle which sees Lewis Nagle s left-footed drive hits the post and out for a corner.
