Boys teams - Sat Oct 8th round up

Saturday Round Up

Boys teams

U7 Panthers

Great game today boys.

I thought our energy was brilliant today. From the start to finish, we kept going and most of the time kept our shape, which was good to see. You all didn’t lose your positions just to score. Jacob done really well in goal with some great saves.

Caleb and Morgan were brilliant in defence, with some important tackles and Morgan getting 2 magic moments. Leo and Harley were great in midfield, running, tackling and shooting with both each with a magic moment. Evan and Seth were great today, holding up play, taking players on and scoring. Evan with 5 magic moments and Seth with 4 magic moments. But my man of the match went to Matthew, his ball control, getting into space, shooting and composure in front of goal was outstanding today also having 4 magical moments and even one of those moments was from a cheeky overhead kick!!

Well done Matthew, well done all of you today. One proud manager.

U7 Wolves

The Wolves U7s lived up to their name today with a terrific result against St Francis. They hunted in packs, displayed great vision with their passing and were clinical in front of goal.

St Francis battled back in the second half and made the boys work hard for the result but it was well deserved. The Wolves have worked a lot on their throw ins and goal kicks in training this week and put it into practice perfectly!

U7 Hurricanes

Well done today, we had a great start and held a good lead, the opposing team pegged us back, to level the game, some great 1 touch football from the whole team, in the end we came out on top, everyone played superb today parents player was awarded to Caleb who had his shooting boots on today and Man of the match went to Leo with 3 magical moments.

U9 Rovers JPL

AFC Stoneham Rovers U9s were matched very evenly in the JPL today against Wiltshire RTC U9s. A close game with both teams passing the ball well and working hard in the sun with no opportunity for any changes. With minutes to go it was Henry H and Brody who were deadly in front of the goal to ensure an even game. Man of the match went to Josh for his tireless running and excellent distribution of the ball.

U9 Athletic JPL

AFC Stoneham Athletic U9 extended their winning streak to two games with a strong performance against local rivals Stoneham Pumas. Charlie Catt scoring twice and Donatello scoring from a free kick gave Athletic a 3-0 lead before they conceded a late goal to make it 3-1. Everybody played their part in an excellent game MOTM was well deserved by Centre Back, James Freeman.

U16 Panthers

AFC Stoneham U16 Panthers had an early KO in the sun in their Hampshire County Cup game against Braishfield U16 and started the game on the front foot creating some very early chances to take the lead and

it wasn’t long before Oli Gorniak converted one of the chances and scored his first goal for the team.

From the restart, the boys looked sharp and dominated the play creating openings at will, Louie Puntis was next on the score sheet turning in a low cross to make it 2-0.

As the half progressed, the team began to settle and using the full width of the pitch began to take control. Oli G then scored his second just before George Bell hit a fourth with his first goal of the season, driving the ball from 20 yards out with a well struck shot into the top corner to finish the half 4-0 up.

The second half started a little slower for the Panthers and Braishfield enjoyed some possession but after ten minutes, Stoneham suddenly clicked into gear again and added further goals from Rupert Gray, Fred Young, George Hunt and Jack Bateman to make it 8, however the pick of the goals was saved for the last one, when George Hunt picked the ball up on the left hand side of the box and after taking it past two defenders struck a ferocious shot into the goal. A special shout out to our opposition however who showed absolute respect and never gave up even though they came up against a Panthers side who were on it today, a great advert for youth football.

A good day at the office for the Panthers who now progress into the second round of the cup.

Well done to our boys teams that played so well on Saturday !
