Edu Jiménez Coronado

The club very sadly had to wave goodbye to Edu this weekend as he moved back to Spain after four years with the Purps.

Edu will be playing for Club Deportivo Quintanar del Rey in the 4th tier of Spanish football.

In total the little Spaniard played 92 games in a purple shirt scoring 42 times including 26 in our div 1 championship winning season and 15 times in our first ever "season" in the Wessex Premier league.

Edu scored the first ever goal at our new ground in a competitive match v Sholing in January and his last goal was a tremendous 25 yard curling shot in the top corner v Pagham in the FA Cup recently.

His tremendous ability and goal scoring record speaks for itself. However Edu will be very fondly remembered at AFC Stoneham as a fantastic guy who was always smiling and loved by everyone. It is impossible to dislike Edu!

The whole club wishes Edu and his partner a wonderful future back in Spain and we do hope they will return to see us all very soon.

Once a Purp always a Purp!
