The boys put on a very good performance but narrowly lost out to a youthful Southampton side in front of nearly 600 supporters.
We were one down in a couple of minutes when Nick Oyekunle seized on a short back pass however we then had the better of the first half but missed good chances and Jefferies in the Saints goal denied us on more than one occasion.
Saints doubled their lead on 64 minutes when a ball hit a hand in the box allowing Oyekunle to score from the penalty spot.
The boys then took the game to Saints and, again, the keeper pulled off some excellent saves whilst we still missed good chances.
Yumo Wan scored on 85 minutes to reduce the deficit and we still had time to create two more chances before the final whistle.
A game that we probably deserved more from and put on a very good performance on a great night for the club.
