OCT 28: YOUTH ROUND UP

SATURDAY ROUND UP

Saturday 28/10/23 match report

Let’s start with our U7’s…

AFC STONEHAM OWLS vs WHITELEY WANDERES YOUTH WARRIORS

With depleted teams on both sides due to half term holidays & illness, the boys had to work extra hard.

Max was back in goal, and made some terrific saves with his hands & feet!

Lucas scored the first of 3 goals for the Owls, Luca followed with another 2. One being a penalty which he cooly slotted in.

Ted & Finley in midfield made some great tackles and through balls and keep the Warriors battling.

Luca & Archie played all 4 matches, no signs of tiredness from them.

Man of the match went to Captain Archie for his solid effort in defence.

U9’s…

AFC STONEHAM SHARKS V DENMEAD.

The boys are really starting to form as a team, after a rocky few weeks, we are starting to see the results come from the boys, with the strength, passing, shooting and team playing.

Todays game was quite evenly matched, and both teams battled hard.

Noah and Owen who are great shot stoppers and kept the boys in the game with the braveness of being in goal.

Robert, George Yassar and Keaton where superb in there performance in defences, made some big tackles, good passing out from the back and communication.

Across middle we had Mathew, Max, Keon and Logan who managed to string some good passes together, working as a team, making good runs off the ball, and some great through balls played.

Our strikers for today where Carter and Daniel. Carter ran endless helping out the midfield when needed, using his great strength, Daniel was great in his hunting the ball down.

There was some great shots from all the lads today. We are looking to carry on our string of food performances upto th E Christmas break

Man of match - Carter

Oppositional player - Keon

Big shout out to Jade and Mark, who work hard with the boys, planning session and making sure every one has fair game time, and making sure all the boys play with a smile on there faces.

U10’s..

AFC STONEHAM Lionessess vs STUBBING U10 NIGHTINGALES.

Great game today for the lionessess. 3 players away, but this meant lots of game time

We were a bit slow to start but some fantastic defending, great movement and we started to relax.

We went a couple of goals down, but continued to work hard. Remembering our passing and moving drills, creating some fantastic spaces.

Then, 2 goals in 2 mins! Cracking goal from Renae to put us on the score sheet, then a lovely calm finish from Dulcie

We may not have gotten the rest from the score line, but the team effort, listening and working hard with some fantastic football at times was definitely a win for the girls

Well done to Skye for Parents Player and Rose for Opposition Player

U13’s..

AFC STONEHAM LIONESSES V SOUTHAMPTON WOMEN

Young Lionesses played a very good Southampton team who was very clinical in the first half going 3goals up.. Giving themselves a massive challenge in the second.

They quickly grabbed a goal from Olivia giving themselves a great opportunity.

The girls were totally dominate in the second half Lola simper powered through giving the girls hope.

Symonds added a worldie from the halfway line ..

Lionesses continued to dominate and credit to Southampton women’s goalie pulling off a few late saves..

A draw was definitely a fair reflection on the game keep up the good work girls

U14’s..

AFC STONEHAM UNITED V ANDOVER FTC

It was a very close game that could have gone either way, we went behind early on and were always chasing the game which led to Andover getting 2 in the final quarter as we were pushing higher and higher.

The boys played some really good football, hit the cross bar twice and the post so if any of those went in it would have been a completely different game.

What we said to work on for next time is being on it from the start, make the opposition chase us.

PoM went to Hamid for his unrelenting hassle, winning the ball back all over the pitch and driving forward it was also great to see Alfie and Jonjo get their first minutes for us, both having strong performances

AFC STONEHAM ATHLETIC V LJR

An early start for a day trip to the Isle of White.

The lads played the best football we've seen from them this season. Dictated play from minute one and used the width superbly to pull our opponents apart.

Were never out of posession long due to the disciplined narrow shape the boys are getting better and better at, filling gaps and working as a unit to stop opponents breaking through.

And on the odd occasion they did get through, our back line was immense.

Fair play to the opposition goalkeeper who kept the score down to six.

A massive well done to the above teams who didn’t allow the weather to take over their games & massive well done to all of our other teams who enjoyed their games
