Saturday Round Up

U7 Hurricanes

A great game for Hurricanes today, we got off to a brilliant start and kept the momentum going til the very end, great passing and defending from all, each player had a moment of magic, lovely to see players mixing it up with positions, the boys played with great determination today, and should be rightly proud of them selves.

Parents Player went to Leo with 3 magical moments and MOTM went to Caleb with 3 magical moments

U7 Tigers

AFC Stoneham Tigers had another exciting game today against a good physical side .The Team played well and are relishing the challenges put in front of them each week.

Today's MOTM Alex

U7 Wolves

A real progress report for the Wolves today as they met Hedge End in a repeat of the first game of the season. The boys came flying out of the blocks today and early bird Vinnie was played in by Louie to get us going. Vinnie turned provider shortly after with a great tackle and run before shifting it to Harry who took his chance calmly. We controlled the midfield and used the space on the pitch brilliantly today and Fyfe was instrumental in this. Louie and Harry were their usual combative selves and gave Vinnie and Ollie license to cause trouble for the Hedge End defense. We talked about being cool and taking the time to make our chances count and we did that today. We didn't have it all our way though and at the back Jacob snuffed out attack after attack, winning the ball, moving into safer areas and getting us moving forward again. The whole game Hedge End only broke through our lines twice, the first forced an outstanding double save from Harry and the second time an excellent piece of skill and unstoppable strike from their forward.

Pleasingly, the lads managed their energy really well and we finished the game strongly with Ollie producing a fine moment to give the team what their recent performances have deserved. Players of the match could have gone to anyone but Paulo Maldini and Andrea Pirlo, oops Jacob and Fyfe got the awards this week. Super stuff Wolves

U9 Rovers

U9 Rovers played our final game of the ‘completion games’ against our very own Athletic. Slow start from the boys found us behind from a looping free kick but immediately replied through Henry Polkinghorne who then got his 2nd soon after.

In the 2nd third the boys dominated and quickly got themselves a 3 goal lead through a brace by Brody Hibberd and controlled the whole third.

The final third was a bit more even but a Chase Marjason brace completed a great win for the boys which ended a great competition.

Really pleased with all the boys efforts today and POM could of gone to any of the boys but Brody Hibberd took the award.

Well done Rovers.

U11 Lionesses

With the U11 Lionesses going into todays game missing 2 important outfield players in Millie & Hettie alongside our phenomenal goalkeeper Scarlett the girls pulled together with a fantastic team spirit.

With incredible team work starting in defence through to attack the girls played some fantastic football and found themselves 2 goals up at half time thanks to a brace from Lola.

Upon the restart, the girls found themselves again in control of the game, and April soon found the net to score her first league goal of the season before Lola complete her Hat-trick with a great finish into the bottom corner.

Unfortunately a penalty to the opponents in the last few minutes was cooly finished by their striker to complete the scoring and the game ending with us a 4-1 victors!

Huge thanks to both Eliana & Ava for playing a half in goal each - you were both brilliant

Player of the Match today went to the incredible Ava, first half she won every tackle and played some nice passes and second half turned into our very own Mary Earps in goal making some great saves! You should be very proud

U11 Girls

AFC Stoneham Girls Panthers 4

Waltham Wolves 1

The Panthers bounced back from their first defeat of the season with a convincing win.

The Panthers took an early lead when a Jess H cross/shot was dropped by the visitors keeper and Aimee tapped home the rebound.

The Panthers had several chances saved before Waltham created their first opening when a shot from the edge of the box was well saved by Abigail.

The Panthers continued to dominate but the game changed when Georgia (much to her annoyance) was moved upfront.

It took only a few minutes for her to make the score 2-0 when beating the keeper with a tidy finish after collecting the ball on the right of the area.

Georgia scored her second with a similar finish to make the score 3-0 before the break.

The second half started as a midfield battle with Mirela, Mimi, Emily and Lyra working hard. A cross from Lyra was deflected into her own goal by an opposing defender to make the score 4-0.

The parity rule came into play and the defence of Ilyse, Victoria and Rosie did well to prevent any chances for Waltham.

Eventually, a long range shot bounced into the net giving Abigail no chance to make the score 4-1.
