U8-U11 Weekend round up
U8 Jaguars
U8 Jaguars played in an exciting 4 - 4 draw conceding a last minute free kick !! Romsey were quick out of the blocks scoring three without reply only for Jaguars to show great character scoring four consecutive goals. Great game all-round played in a great spirit..
James Cooper , Olly Joe Small, Freddie Nichols and Preston Brooks all hit the "onion bag".
U8 Hurricanes
Great game against Hedge End Rangers Hawks.
It was end to end stuff from the first whistle to the last.
The game ended as a very high scoring score , great effort from the Hurricanes, who after a couple of questionable decisions came back being down to take the draw.
Both teams deserve great respect! Absolute scenes Geoff.
U8 Panthers
U8 Panthers v U9 Littleton Junior Cyclones
Tough game for the U8 Panthers today. The boys worked their socks off but couldn't quite make a come back. The physicality of our opponents were a little too much for us today yet the Panther U8 boys stayed strong and never gave up right till the final whistle. There was some great positional play and there could have been more goals. Despite the result it was a great game to watch! A hat trick came from Manny with a two great assists from Hayden and Jack and another goal from Cooper. Player of the Match went to Fraser for huge effort in goal and making some great saves.
U9 Panthers
Unlucky today boys.
Thought you played well in spells. There was some good passing out there today, getting into space and moving around , putting our training into practice. We started brightly but then I thought the urgency, tackling, closing down went and looked like we were just going through the motions. It wasn’t until the last quarter, when we woke up and had a go, and nearly snatched it at the end. Special mention to Jenson with his 5 magical moments. But my Man of the Match went to Jake. His overall workrate, continued running and getting stuck in was a outstanding today. Well done Jake, well done all of you for not giving up.
U9 Spitfires
U9 Spitfires were involved in a good game with Wyvern Saints with some superb football played by the Spitfires throughout. Some great passing all over the pitch with the boys trying the right things and on another day would have been on the right end of the score line. Alfie Bungay scored our solitary and POM went to Hector Hobbs who was solid in goal and kept us in the game with some great goalkeeping.
Really pleased with the boys efforts today.
U11 Spitfires
A great team spirit saw AFC Stoneham Spitfires U11s win 6-3 against Hamble this afternoon. The boys played some great football and battled for every ball. Freds got the scoring started with a header, closely followed by a great long range effort from Alfie. Hamble pulled one back with a great strike before Bushy restored the two goal lead with a brilliant left foot strike into the corner. Freds scored his second of the game , cooly slotting home from the penalty spot after being taken down. Bushy then scored a wonderful free kick which resulted in a team celebration of ‘let’s go bushy, let’s go’ . Ethan finally got the goal he deserved after relentlessly pressing the Hamble defence all afternoon, sprinting on to a great through ball to face a one on one with the keeper. The boys really played for each other with man of the match being a tough decision, however, Alfie B battled his heart out in midfield and was awarded the trophy. Well done boys.
U11 Wolves v U11 Pumas
Another tremendous day out for the Wolves! Plenty of goals and another clean sheet - that's three in a row now - with Harrison reading the game well from Centre Back but it was Dominik who pulled off two outstanding saves in the final quarter to make it no goals against from our last 3 hours of play.
Adam was awarded Wolf of the Week by junior coach Tom for his improved defending and positioning, and also for his four shots to the back of the net.
Fuku ran the midfield today while there were more good performances from all of the other Wolf superstars.
Well done to everyone !!
