SATURDAY ROUND UP
Cup game weekend
Starting the cup game weekend is our U8’s..
AFC STONEHAM PHOENIX GIRLS
The girls played their first cup game, 2 weeks after playing their first game of the season against the same opposition!
After the result 2 weeks ago it could have been easy for them all to feel downbeat, especially conceding 20 seconds into the game this week.
Despite this all the girls showed great courage and fight on the field resulting in 4 great goals being made
Manager Liam is super proud of his team and feels the girls have done themselves proud and should have their heads held high after a brave performance
The opposition gifted goalkeeper Maisie as their player of the match for showing a brave & commanding display throughout the game!
A massive well done & keep it up!
AFC STONEHAM PUMAS V WHITELEY WANDERERS YOUTH PANTHERS
First cup game of the season for the girls today and how proud I am as the manager for these girls!!
After playing such a great team for our first game of the season the girls may have been hesitant but instead played with a completely different view of the game.
The end result was a much better result than 2 weeks prior to this game & the girls have shown how much they have grown over the last few weeks.
The girls went on with a different formation than they have been playing the last two weeks and this worked a dream and as a manager I truly believe this will make them go far as a team throughout the rest of the season!
Player of the match wasn’t a predictable or straightforward choice this week, every single player deserved to take the title home!
As a team the girls felt is was well deserved to go to our one and only Lilly for a great performance on the pitch and whilst playing in a new position.
A super well done & keep doing what you’re doing! I’m very proud to be managing you all!
Now onto our U11’s
AFC STONEHAM LIONESSES V WORTHYS WILDFIRE
The girls brought home another win today
A massive shoutout to player Mia Carruthers for scoring all of our goals today & being awarded player of the match
Keep going girls your doing great!!
Our U13’S…
AFC STONEHAM LIONESSES V CHINEHAM TIGERS
AFC Stoneham started the game very quickly this morning resulting in a few goals up in the first 10 minutes
Overall the girls were excellent and this resulted in winning their cup game comfortably whilst setting themselves a really high standard
The girls have bounced back after a narrow loss the week before..
You are doing amazing ,keep up the good work ladies
AFC STONEHAM SPITFIRES
AFC Stoneham competed well against a very strong Felpham team today
The boys began the game very bright which created in a couple of chances being made before Felpham went one up from the penalty spot!
Within the second half, Spitfires continued to show a great battle as the Felpham boys applied a lot of pressure with their quality football
Felpham then scored 2 more goals from corners resulting in them being 3 goals up whilst scoring their 4th goal shortly after.
Stoneham goalkeeper Johnnie pulled off some amazing saves throughout the game today and bravely went in for a 50/50 challenge with Felphams striker near the end to prevent a 5th goal
Freddie bouncing on a defensive error late in the game to smash the ball past Felphams goalkeeper
The Spitfires showed great spirit throughout and didn’t give up
Man of the match went to Adam today for his strong defensive display & distribution at right back
Lastly our U14’s…
AFC STONEHAM UNITED
Today was a tough game for the boys. They knew it was going to be a challenge.
Manager for the United boys created a tactical change to their formation which ultimately didn’t pay off and put his hands up for that, but never the less the boys tried their best with the new formation & can only be praised for doing their best
The manager changed back to the normal formation for the second half which created a much more positive view throughout! This gave the wingers a chance to be more involved creating more chances leading to a goal by Ethan which was neatly set up by James
Many lessons learnt today. The lads showed great fight on the pitch to keep going, especially when players started picking up knocks & not being able to make those changes. Playing out of their usual positions whilst still showing a lot of passion
Player of the match goes to Jack P for playing anywhere and everywhere today whilst having a positive impact on the rest of the team
To the boys who did pick up some knocks today , speedy recovery and we go again next Saturday
AFC STONEHAM ATHLETIC V BEREWOOD BREEZE
The lads went into the game with nothing but focus on creating space for their team mates to attack to enable an overload in the attacking 3Rd
Throughout the game the lads executed brilliantly resulting in all players being on the score sheet
A great attitude from the lads today who stepped into sharing goalkeeping duties due to our regular number 1 being ill
A massive respect to our opponents who kept going until the final whistle on Havant and Waterlooville’s main pitch!
Incredible today boys well done
Well done to all of our teams
Thank you
