Saturday Round Up
By Georgia - Chief Saturday Reporter
First month of the season… completed
Firstly a massive well done to every single one of our Saturday teams (and of course all our AFC Stoneham teams)
Starting the show is…
U7’s
AFC STONEHAM SPITFIRES V CROFTON SAINTS TIGERS
The boys started off with a flying start with Joel, Percy & Arlo showing excellent saves.
Joel the captain for our spitfires today certainly loved the bottom corner of the net with amazing shots being scored which was followed by Percy sharing great passes which lead into a fantastic goal being made. Jackson’s calm approach to the field has shown through from last week keeping the game a smooth run for all the boys.
Second quarter soon came round which gave Eli the run of the pitch which lead him to scoring two incredible & smooth goals.
Not forgetting Teddy who lined up every pass he had the opportunity to complete which helped our scorers get the ball in the back of the net
Arthur certainly wasn’t taking his eye off the ball when he noticed a poachers finish and Joel smashing the ball into the roof of the net!!
Second half didn’t start off quite the way the first half had, the boys faced a slightly different challenge with a well packed opposition which didn’t define Spitfires great team work. The boys showed their individual skills throughout which soon shined through with the ball being in the back of the net again. Arthur shown a tidy goal to be scored whilst Eli wrapped up the last goal for the boys from his powerful hat-trick.
Excellent performance all round boys, and very well deserved player of the match went to the one and only Arthur, for showing great dribbling skills followed through with great passing
Boys your going to go far keep going!!!
AFC STONEHAM OWLS V CHAMBERLAYNE ATHLETIC YOUTH
A month into the season and our Owl boys are still as enthusiastic as they were on their first game of the season and even more so for their next game!
Finley taking ownership of the captains band today the boys stepped foot onto that pitch as if they were in battle with a very well matched opposition.
Finley, Lucas & Luca taking the opportunity to bag a goal under the belts each today. Whilst the most regular goalies being Max, Vinnie and our defender Archie making some superstar stops today and Charlie owned the goalie gloves for his first amazing stint as a goal keeper today, sorry Jordan Pickford who?
Ted being the middle man today showed great passes to all his team mates.
A huge well done to Vinnie today for getting the man of the match for his great colossus efforts throughout the whole game.
Well done boys
Now onto our..
U8’s
U8’s AFC STONEHAM SCORPIONS V BISHOPS WALTHAM DYNAMOS RED
The boys may have walked away with the result not being in their favour the overall outcome from the boys was far from a disappointment by their performance & team work makes them winners all round!
All the boys played exceptionally well considering their opponents were a very well set up team.
The boys put their weekly training sessions to the test today and showed their positional work they have learned which resulted in a great battle for the opposition.
The half way line certainly didn’t expect top scorer Rafferty whilst Seb made some incredible saves in goal today which lead him to earn player of the match.
Captain Leo got two goals under his belt today with a great team player Maksim working the pitch incredibly well across the whole pitch which lead him to be a target for the opposition.
Raphael played in 2 different positions today and showed some fantastic football confidence in doing so.
Were tackles a problem for any of the boys? Nope especially for Jack who made some cracking tackles throughout the game and worked incredibly hard today.
Alex well done today for playing brilliant and showing the opposition you weren’t afraid of giving them pressure throughout
U8 AFC STONEHAM PUMAS GIRLS V STUBBINGTON YOUTH U8 BLUEBIRDS GIRLS
What an absolutely amazing game played by all girls this morning!
An early kick off and went straight in with no nerves! The girls were up against a very strong great team of girls!
None the less they gave it their all and showed great listening from training and this morning to keep together as a team.
Fantastic talking from our captain Ruby who earned the band this game after a great training session. Rosie holding back in defence by her natural agenda to the game whilst giving it her best when she was moved into the position of the wing!
Lilly coming back into the game after missing her first game of the season from being poorly and giving the girls their first goal
Our two newest members Penny & Sofia gave it their all in the game today by showing great skills on the ball and doing their best to get the ball across the pitch to their team mates.
Olivia showing great team work & keeping their spirits up especially in the first half whilst she was running across the field to do her best to get the ball out of their end of the pitch!
Our opponents gave their player of the match to our one and only Number 8 Lilly which we agree was well deserved!
Whilst lastly Harper becoming the next Mary Earps and showing no fear when it came to saving the ball & guarding the goal as if she was hiding the treasure & receiving the parents player of the match
incredibly proud of you Pumas girls and I cannot wait for our next game next week! Growth is there and keep it coming
Running into our..
U11’s
AFC STONEHAM LIONESSES V CLANFIELD
The girls grabbed their first win of the season and what an incredible game it was
Amelia & Sophie our goal scorers of the game and bringing home the victory!!
Manager Lewis is super pleased with the girls continuous development over their current season!
Well done girlies!
Now are U12’s..
AFC STONEHAM LIONESSES V WARSASH WASPS
The journey may have been a little short & sweet on the M27 to Warsash but the girls journey back home was sure a bright & sweet one by bringing a 2-0 win home
Being in Div 3 they sure were going to encounter a challenge, saying this, this did NOT phase the girls in the slightest & were on command from the early fixture.
Great football was played all round, a break through goal was pushed in the first half but this didn’t materialise leaving the girls at a 0-0 stand.
The girls took over the half time chat and showed determination of what they wanted from one another from this next half, whilst praising one another for their great efforts.
This being said this made the lionesses more hungry for the ball to get in the back of the net for the second half The girls half time chat was sure shown on the pitch the ball was moving up the pitch at great speed which resulted in their opposition to be overwhelmed from their great intensity.
The affect the girls brought to the pitch gave Lola the time to get space within the box to get to the end of a cross from Elisha whilst moments later the were gifted a penalty
Madison who has ice going through her veins landed a powerful shot resulting the ball to hit the back of the net with no hesitation and bring her FIRST competitive goal
Keeping control of the second half they ended on a 2-0 win!
player of the match was pleasantly awarded to Elizabeth for battling through an intense game for a whole 40 minutes against players twice her height and still came out on top.
player of the week was awarded to Leah due to her continuously impressing every single person around her due to her great defence capabilities and not allowing anyone to dribble past her yet this season!
Well done girls be proud of your hard work!
Going into our U13’s …
AFC STONEHAM SPITFIRES V BAFFIN MILTON ROVERS
The boys walked onto the pitch today with nothing but determination which was built off of their last monument victory from last week leaving them to walk off the pitch with a great 6-0 win
Resulting in 3 wins out of 4 so far this season - how incredible!!
Joey having nursed an injury recently he joined the boys as if he has never been away and still resulting in pulling together and showing what a great team spirit they hold with one another.
Freddie our amazing striker lead us up the ladder with a 1-0 result by the end of the first half by making sure the ball was out of the opponents goal keepers hand and slotting it nicely in the of the bottom right corner of the goal.
The second half the boys showed great determination to make sure the ball was there’s and there’s only resulting the opponents to be pinned to their half of the pitch working hard to try and get that ball out.
The opponents keeper wasn’t going to allow Freddie to waltz a goal in if he could help it which resulted Freddie to line up a clear path for bushy to calmly hit the ball into the next
The one and only Alfie Lomas made three goal burning shots in the net from the penalty spot
The 4th goal was landed by us unfortunately but an OG by the opponents after receiving the ball perfectly directly in front of goal which was accidentally knocked in by their defender.
The spitfires certainly live up to their name and sure pilled the pressure onto their opponents and receiving several more chances for the ball to get in the back of the net.. resulting in the ball being shot off the post by Alfie L and the opponent goal keeper sure was determined not to let the hat-trick hit the net by Freddie.
Our goalie Johnnie showed great work throughout and his determination allowed him not to let a goal get past him. Alfie L securing his second goal of the match by scoring a fantastic goal in the bottom left corner.
Jessie the left back player showed great tackling skills & play out throughout the game and was awarded the man of the match.
Well done everyone and a fantastic result
Our delightful U14’s..
AFC STONEHAM UNTIED
The boys may have not come home with the result they wanted, but there’s plenty of room to get that result boys!
Coming together as one and dreams and determination bounce off one another the boys really did but their best efforts into todays game and this is all we could ever ask for as a football club. The boys stood up for one another where it was needed and were also quick enough to tell one another where things were needed to be improved but not allowing this to dull their sparkle.
The boys showed possession and chances were created throughout the game, but the team lacked on their pass and shot from the final moment which is just a lesson to be learnt and they all know if this was a different day this would have turned the game around immensely but don’t let this define you all as a team
A positive was greatly shown from Ed on the pitch today with his first minutes of the season were played and he was clean and tidy throughout the game and especially in the second half creating fantastic 1-2-1 saves.
The man of the match was well deserved to Harry for his commanding performance in the middle and showing the biggest voice on the pitch which were sure matched to his tackles on the pitch
And finally our U18’s
AFC STONEHAM KNIGHTS V BRAISHFIELD BEES
The young lads were drawn away in the first round for the U18’s for the Testaway League this didn’t stop the lads from giving the game their absolute best!
The division was too much for the opposition leaving the Knights leading the way with a grand finish being 18-0
Leyton leading the way with 9 incredible goals, Ewan & Fred scoring 3 goals each with another goal each from Elliott S & Ben and unfortunately and OG for Braishford Bees
Massive well done and Thankyou to Ben and Elliot stepping into the Goal keeper position and the whole team meeting the game objectives.
Man of the match goes to Leyton for his treble hat-trick
Well done to Braishfield who kept going and showed great spirit in defeat.
So pleased for the above teams and all of our other Saturday teams
Roll on another month of the season !
Well done to everyone
