Brockenhurst 1-1 AFC Stoneham

AFC Stoneham were held to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon as Brockenhurst managed to snatch a late goal to deny AFC Stoneham the 3 points. James Phillips makes one change from Tuesday’s game against Bashley as Scott Hills comes in and replaces Diego Romero.

AFC Stoneham kick off for the first half, and come straight under pressure from Brockenhurst in the opening minutes of the game. Brockenhurst register the first attack at goal when Kieran O’Donnell, from 30 yards out- has a shot at goal but it’s well over the crossbar and results in a goal-kick. 11 minutes in Brockenhurst have the ball in the back of the net curtesy of Christie Ward but the linesman flag is up and is ruled out for offside.

With all the pressure from Brockenhurst, AFC Stoneham managed to win a penalty 35 yards out from goal. Jim Orvis plays a great ball into the box; Wiseman rises and meets the ball and headers it back and Scott Hills meets and hits it into the back of the net 1-0 to Stoneham on their first attack on goal. Stoneham in quick succession from the goal register another attack on goal when Ryan Penny shoots at goal from the edge of the box but it’s well wide and goes out for a goal kick.

With some of the pressure from the quick counter attacks from Stoneham, Brockenhurst find their rhythm again have a chance of levelling the score-line. When Kieran O’Donnell plays a great ball into the box where Christie Ward shoots but Tom Parker-Trott makes the save but the ball goes back into play and Jack Smith hits the rebound ball but Parker-Trott makes another great save and it goes out for a corner. Stoneham win another free kick in which Ben Clarke takes, he plays a ball into the box Cal Laycock meets the ball and lays it off to Duarte Martins who shoots but James Mayo saves.

HALF TIME – Brockenhurst 0-1 AFC Stoneham

AFC Stoneham start the second half brightly and are putting the pressure on hard for Brockenhurst as they have a few chances at goal but are ruled out for offside. Brockenhurst make the first change of the game in 52nd minute when Ronan Moore comes off and Joe Chamberlain comes on. Scott Hills finds himself in space on the edge of the box and half volleys the ball at the goal it causes some trouble for the keeper as he comes out to make the save. Brockenhurst make another 2 changes with AFC Stoneham making their first, for Stoneham we see Duarte Martins come off and replaced by Diego Romero. For Brockenhurst Lyle Simpson and Seung Woo-Yang make way for Matt Sheedy and Mitch Speechley-Price.

Another chance for AFC Stoneham when Jim Orvis plays the ball to Cal Laycock who shoots but there isnt another power behind the shot and it’s a comfortably save for the keep. Stoneham second change of the afternoon sees Ryan Penny off and Jake Thomson on. Quickly after the substitution AFC Stoneham nearly make it 2-0 when Cal Laycock has another shot at goal but again the keeper makes a decent save. AFC Stoneham make their third and final change 74 minutes in when Nathan Clements comes on and Scott Hills comes off.

Brockenhurst up their attack as a goal mouth scramble nearly results in a leveller for Brockenhurst but the AFC Stoneham defenders do well and clear the danger away. However, Brockenhurst go down to 10 men for the final 10 minutes of the game when Joe Chamberlain is sinbinned for dissent. Final few minutes of the game it looked like AFC Stoneham were going to be leaving with the 3 points but in the 89th minute Alex Haynes finds himself in space on the edge of the box and shoots and the ball goes into the back of the net, heartbreak for AFC Stoneham as they played really well in the second half.
