AFC Stoneham U8
Wow, What a game today. We were a man down with Henry being ill, but that didn’t stop us producing one of the best passing performances of the season. I told the boys to work hard as a team and they didn’t disappoint. Their passing, moment, and decision making was brilliant today. David produced some excellent saves and rushing out to keep a clean sheet. James and Oliver were as ever solid at the back and Oliver even got on the score sheet. Ollie and Lucas was excellent in midfield and breaking down their attacks. Jenson ‘the Goat’ was again on target with a hat-trick, but what pleased me most was his unselfish passing in front of goal. But my man of the match today went to Harry aka ‘little messi’ his footwork, passing and movement on and off the ball was a pleasure to watch, and also bagged himself a hat-trick. Well done Harry. Well done all of you. You all deserved the award today, very proud of you all.
AFC Stoneham U8 Spitfires
U8 Spitfires came up against our very own Wolves in a great game. Standard slow start by the Spitfires found us behind in the 1st quarter giving us an uphill battle. Created numerous chances but just would not go in were as Wolves took their chances so credit to them. Brody Hibberd and Henry Polkinghorne then found the back of net and Spitfires were back in the game winning the final 2 quarters but just ran out of time. Credit to Wolves and a good game played by both teams. POM went to Theo Yaldren who was full of energy and almost got himself a goal but was also excellent defending.
AFC Stoneham U8 Hurricanes
Today was Derby Day, the Hurricanes lined up against the Stoneham Lions...
The match had everything and was exciting to watch. The Hurricanes started on the front foot and dominated most of the possession in the right areas, fortunately the hard work paid off with a great individual goal from Jesse. The boys continued to amount the pressure in the next quater with a very defensive minded player scoring his first ever goal for the club 'Well done Sam!' .
The second half was a different game all together. The Lions came out strong and scored a few quick goals. The play was then end to end with both teams getting opportunities to take the win, but unfortunately for us it was the Lions who broke the deadlock . Well done Lions, a great game from all involved. Up the purps!
U9 Royals
The Royals carried on their good form with another great team performance vs Rodaway Rovers. Lucas started off the scoring with 2 goals including a goal of the season contender from nowhere! Nathaniel also scored tapping in at the back post. Special mention to Archer who saved one out of the top corner in the last minute from a freekick. MOTM today went to Oakley who was excellent in defence and midfield especially helping the team to play out from the back
U9 Panthers
U9 Panthers had a great game today, more than proving their worth following their recent promotion to the top division. After a shaky start we got in to our stride and goals from Antek and Jack, coupled with an excellent display across all positions, ensured we gave the opposition a really good game today. Players of the day were Harry, who is playing up a year and doesn’t look out of place after a really assured performance on the left side of midfield, and Charlie who has really started to excel in his preferred central midfield role, setting up countless attacks and being a pivotal player on the pitch. Well done Panthers
U10 Jaguars
v Hedge End Rangers.
It was a great start for the Jags first appearance since being promoted up the divisions.
After a quiet start (worried about new division) on a cold morning and with leaf covered pitch the Jags slowly grew into the game. With 3 players away this weekend the team rose to the challenge of playing in some unfamiliar positions.
A brace from Egit in the first half with a goal in reply from Hedge End saw the Jags go into the half time interval with a slender lead despite swandering lots of chances if front of goal.
A closer run second half saw the teams both adding one goal each to see the Jags running out winners in a great well fought encounter.
Onwards and upwards go purps.

U10 Wolves
Every game of football asks questions of its players and today's were around opportunity and desire.
With none of the four main goal scorers playing, today gave an opportunity for others to impress. Midfielders Jude, Noah and Charlie are quickly learning their individual roles but made big strides today in learning the importance of teamwork and communication. But it was lone attacker Oskar P who really grabbed that opportunity and gave his best performance of the season so far. Linking with his midfield and working hard on his positioning, he often drove the play forward leading to goal scoring chances and Oskar himself having shots on target.
Further back, the defenders were being given a stern test by Whiteley Wanderers Hurricanes. After the unluckiest of first quarters and with 4 goals conceded in the first 20 minutes, many teams would then have been blown away! Could we still show desire? We certainly did, conceding just one more goal in the final 40 minutes helped by goalkeeper Reuben who made yet another finger-tip save and who came off his line well whenever needed.
Every single player showed great play at times, but Wolf of the Week, for grabbing that opportunity to really show what he can do, is Oskar P.
U10 Spitfires
A great team performance by the Under 10 spitfires today. A dominant first quarter saw the boys go one nil up with a goal from James. The pressure continued in the remaining quarters but several chances were missed and in the end a defender’s clearance lofted over Charlie’s head for a 2-1 loss. The boys were gutted at the end but should hold their heads up high for continuing to play football. MOM was Zack for his great play out wide.
U11 Knights
A chilly day for our home match welcoming Fawley Falcons to Stoneham Lane.
Another great performance today, the players are really starting to gel now, learn their positions and understand what we are trying to do on the pitch.
Solid defensively, hard working in midfield and clinical upfront, we passed the ball nicely and tried to play football. We are trying to be brave when in possession and to move the ball the ball quickly with confidence. When defending, we are getting back in numbers with everyone willing to run that extra yard.

U11 Jaguars
A well earned draw for the Jags today with some tough battles and an excellent defensive display. The game started with two quick fire goals, one from Freddie and one from Elliot both assisted by Owen who started today’s game in an unfamiliar centre midfield position however filled the spot superbly! John started the game in a centre forward role playing some lovely through balls in with some great battles in the middle of the park won him the man of the match performance! Defensively we were unlucky with both goals, however some great spells of play throughout the game against a well organised opposition. Fin made a crucial save late on in the game to keep us in it. U12 Spitfires
U12 Spitfires played away to Southbrook Jets in a very entertaining game which ended 6-6. Southbrook took the lead but then a wonder strike from Oliver Drew got the boys level with Harry Halligan & Makail Field scoring to put the Spitfires 3-1 up. A dubious goal pulled 1 back for Southbrook but then Harry Halligan scored his 2nd and Spitfires 4th taking a 4-2 lead into half time. A slow start to the 2nd half and a couple of mistakes found us 5-4 behind but the boys dug in and a wonderful strike from Harley Marjason got us back level @ 5-5. Southbrook then took the lead again but with the last kick of the game Harry Halligan got his hat-trick smashing home from 5 yards after a save from their GK from a great header by Seth Price. So proud of these boys’ spirit today fighting back when up against it and their never say die attitude. Well done Spitfires.
U12 Panthers
Under 12 Panthers got back to winning ways in a hard fought derby game against a much improved.
We ran out 4-1 winners with goals courtesy of a Jake hatrick and a well deserved goal from Isaac that he more than deserved for the effort put in today.
We were back playing as we had earlier in the season and need to ensure we carry that momentum forward into our upcoming games.
Man of the match went to Jake today but well done to all the boys

Fawley Falcon Jets U13 2
Fantastic performances all round today. The boys really turned it up a level. Fawley were unbeaten this season and we were unlucky to find ourselves 0-2 down from two penalties in the 1st half and first minute of the 2nd half.
The boys kept going and we were rewarded when Jude scored from a Karlos assist on 50 mins to bring us back into the game. Then Karlos scored from a saved Jude shot on 56 mins to make the game level. Jude then got his 2nd and the winner from a Jacob assist with 5 mins to go - amazing!
There were outstanding performances everywhere today.
Great game boys! Really proud of you all!
U13 Spitfires
FC Salisbury V AFC Stoneham Spitfires U13
The Spitfires were slow to warm up this morning. We had plenty of chances to score and came in half time 0-1 up (OG). Our defence were solid and never looked vulnerable. The boys got into the groove in the second half and played some lovely football. We went on to win 0-4 . Our scorers were Alfie Surmon , on his debut for the Spitfires, Logan Mcewan, Sean Light and an own goal.
U14 Knights
U14 Knights beat Romsey 1-0 at home this afternoon in the Tyro Div 1. The only goal in the match was a penalty taken by Elliot on 65 minutes.
Scrappy game but Stoneham had the majority of chances. Some brave saves from the opposition GK which kept us at bay until the penalty opportunity.
MOM Kenz for steping in between the posts at very short notice, being a calm presence and keeping a clean sheet.
U14 Royals
The Royals started slowly today and quickly saw themselves 1-0 down against a physically strong Totton team. Some well executed passes and a good finish saw the Royals 2-0 down at half time.
The break gave the team a chance to regroup, they came out with a different mindset and found themselves competing and creating opportunities. A worldly from outside of the box from Isaac Buchan closed the gap. The Royals had fought their way back into the game and had spells of being on top. Unfortunately after a great save, a deflection off of our player gave Totton the win at 3-1.
Super proud of all of the team today, they dug deep and didn’t give up.
MOM went to Greg Rolinson, Greg made some great saves today and kept the Royals in the game on several occasions, not bad for a stand in GK.
U14 Wolves
After our unlucky result last weekend losing 1 nil to top of the league, we hosted 2nd this weekend and unfortunately found ourselves again just on the wrong side of the result, despite boys playing some fantastic football the luck just stayed against us. Boys created many chances and defended super just caught out on a moment of lack of concentration, boys battled hard in first half and was unlucky not to break the deadlock. Second half started and was very end to end until before we knew it a long ball over the top saw our opponents take the lead, boys Continued to work hard before a lapse of concentration saw us concede again.
Boys Continued to battle and clawed 1 back but unfortunately just a consolation as final whistle went game over.

AFC Stoneham United U15s played at Oakley today in the PHYL. We had a limited squad due to recent injuries but that didn’t stop the boys digging in and working hard, after going 2 goals down a very resilient United dug in to run out 3-2 winners. All three goals were scored by Ali Nazari.
