AFC Stoneham meet Brockenhurst for the third time this season when they travel to the Meadens Skoda Arena on Saturday 21st January in the Wessex Premier League.
Brockenhurst:
The Badgers will be looking to bounce back in the Wessex Premier League following their surprising 6-2 defeat away to 17th place Blackfield& Langley last time out.
This will be the third match-up between the two teams already this season, previously meeting once in the league and once in the Wessex League Cup, with Stoneham coming out on top in both with an aggregate score of 8-3.
Brockenhurst are currently 11th in the table on 25 points, five places lower than they finished at the end of last season, but if results go their way, they could end the day as high as seventh.
With previous close encounters and Brockenhurst possessing one of the deadliest strikers in the league, it begs the question, will it be third time luck for the Badgers?
AFC Stoneham:
Two postponements on the bounce has disrupted Stoneham’s excellent run of form in the league where they remain unbeaten in six matches.
Last time out in the league they left it late and scraped past Cowes Sports 2-1, courtesy of goals from Jim Orvis and a stoppage time winner from Liam Callaghan.
Jake Thomson scored a hat-trick the last time these two met, where The Purps comfortably won 5-1 at home, so they will be hoping for a similar result this time around and ‘do the double’ over them in the league this season.
However, this fixture history shows that these games are always incredibly competitive and could go either way, meaning that Stoneham need to be on top form if they want to keep up their unbeaten run.
