Christchurch preview

AFC Stoneham host Christchurch in their last Wessex Premier League game before Christmas on Saturday 17th December.

 AFC Stoneham:

Stoneham are at home for their fourth successive game this weekend, with their most recent match being a 5-1 win over Brockenhurst.

A hat-trick from Jake Thomson, as well as goals from Scott Hills and Jamie Ovington, helped the Purps pick up another three points to maintain their pressure on the top two.

They have been without top-scorer Duarte Martins for their last two games, but still managed to score eight goals, showing that they are a force to be reckoned with as they try to climb the table.

It will be their last league game before Christmas, so let’s hope the Purps can get the three points to round off a fantastic 2022.

 Christchurch:

Christchurch’s last two league games have been cancelled due to frozen pitches, so their last match was a 2-0 loss away to Laverstock& Ford on 6th December.

Fawzi Saadi’s side currently sit 13th in the league, six places higher than they finished at the end of the 2021/22 season, suggesting that they are an improved side as they head into this game.

Their top scorer this season is Eder Batista, who has netted 11 times in 13 starts, showing that the Stoneham defence need to be ready to face a clinical striker.

 Last Three Meetings:

15/03/22- AFC Stoneham 5-0 Christchurch (PREM)

02/11/21- Christchurch 0-5 AFC Stoneham (PREM)

17/08/19- AFC Stoneham 0-1 Christchurch (PREM)
