Girls match round up - 29/1/22

Today's Girls round up

U9 Girls

Under 9 girls played our first game since 4th December and were back with a bang.

We welcomed Down Grange Sapphires to Stoneham Lane and it was a fantastically enjoyable game.

Our scorers today were Matilda, Diya and Seren. Clean sheets for the 2 girls who played in goals too.

All the girls were amazing, girl of the game went to Edith for her all energy display on pitch and a quarter in goal.

Chloe was give oppositions girl of the game.

Thanks to the supporters from both teams who were encouraging both teams throughout the game, it was lovely to see such a busy touchline of smiles.

Well done girls

U10 Panthers

AFC Stoneham Panthers 0-1 Gosport Borough Whites

You know it’s not going to be your day when two of your own players collide heads while jogging across the pitch in the warm up leaving one with a lovely black eye. Hoping Aimee recovers soon.

The game itself was a really tight affair with neither team creating many chances. Georgia made a wonderful save before the Panthers conceded the only goal from the penalty spot.

U11 Girls

Pumas u11s 3-2 Stubbington u11s

Brilliant result today and some great football in the second half. If the players focus on passing the ball then good things happen. I thought we were comfortable, showed great patience and scored 3 great goals to win the game.

Lauren’s in-swinging corner got us level, a sweeping penalty kick from Erin put us in the lead before a wonderful finish from Martha secured the victory.

5 different defenders today, 5 different strikers and all but 1 played in midfield. Superb versatility. We also saw plays excelling in different roles which all supports their development.

Trophies today, Abbi J cool & calm in possession, great in the tackle. Managers Player.

Lauren was all-action today in midfield and up front, key role in 2 goals. Opposition player.

Thank you again to our sponsors Parchow Groundworks. We play the best football and look the part

U13 Girls Report

Home vs AFC Portchester

1st half was a scrappy affair, neither team really in control, however Portchester we’re working harder, winning more 50/50 duels and had the better of the final 10 minutes. Chances were at a premium and it finished in a stalemate.

For the first time this year, the girls received some harsh but fair words at half time. They had to work harder out of possession and be calmer in possession, why did Portchester want it more than them…?

Second half, different game, the girls were buzzing, all of sudden we were sprinting, battling and the fight was back! Iris Wakely was there at the right time following up a shot as all good centre forwards do to make it 1-0. It was all Stoneham, the girls were bright and the confidence grew. A cross on from the right found it’s way across to Sophie Freeman, who converted from close range for 2-0. From there we were dominant and it could have been 3 or 4. The girls saw out the game solid as ever at the back and tenacious in midfield. A tremendous second half display.

FT AFC STONEHAM 2-0 AFC Portchester

12 unbeaten… well done girls, a great reaction at half time.

U16 Hampshire League

Another league win under the scorpions belt. A very even match v kingsworthy. Started rusty after no games for 4 weeks. Girls put heart and soul into the game after sitting at 2-2 for a while. Coming away winners at 4-2.

2 Goals from Mia Garwin, one from Katie Babahami and one from Hannah Webb. 6 from 6 now.

A well earnt MOM by Victoria Johnson playing out of position as centre back.

Up the purps!”

Bitton AFC (Bristol) 1

AFC Stoneham U16 JPL 6

Todays weather conditions were tough to deal with for both teams with the wind gale force influencing the match throughout,

Stoneham lost the toss and had to play against the severe wind in the first halve but handled it superbly by scoring three goals and keeping a clean sheet playing good short passing football, the second half with the wind gave more challenges and made it very difficult to control possession but the girls managed to finish the game 6-1 winners on the road onwards and upwards up the purps

Well done girls !
