Sunday Round Up

U7 Panthers

Clean sheet for the U7 Panthers today, best performance since they moved up. Again, the whole team made it on to the score sheet including hat-tricks from Jack and Hayden, and further great goals from Freddie, Cooper, Manny and Logan. Fraser kept some goals out from the opposing team and utilised the players that had space around them when passing back out to the field. During the 3rd/4th quarter break spectators were privy to some ball juggling skills from the Referee. Player of the Match went to Jack today for not only his goal scoring in the first quarter but also his disciplined performance when asked to go in defence. Great game for Panthers!

U10 Spitfires

A great performance by the U10 Spitfires today who remained positive and disciplined throughout their 4-2 win. They continued to stick to their passing game and were rewarded with three goals from Bushy and a great individual goal from Freddie. Man of the match was again very difficult to decide with everyone playing so well, with Zach being awarded the trophy for positive runs forward with the ball.

U8 Spitfires

U8 Spitfires continued their recent good form in an excellent performance against Hedge End Rangers. Some really great passing by all the boys today and a couple of goals scored with slick passing and unselfishness. Some good individual performances but generally pleasing team performance. Brody Hibberd, Theo Yaldren, Adriano Philips & Elliott Finch were all on fire in front of goal. POM went to birthday boy Harvey Whyte who was excellent and tried so hard to score which included hitting the bar. Well done ‘mini Spitfires’.

U8 Panthers

Great game today boys. We asked for a high tempo, passing, running off the ball and shooting. And that game had it all. I don’t think Hiltingbury knew what hit them from the start. We were better all over pitch, and thoroughly deserved the convincing win. David pulled off some good saves when required. Oliver and James defended well, with some crunching tackles. Birthday boy Ollie and Henry was excellent in midfield with some great passes and shots, with both getting on the scoresheet. Harry worked his socks off and was unlucky not to score. Jenson was on fine form with some great runs and shooting, and grabbed himself 4 goals. But my man of the match went to Lucas. His tackling, passing and moving was a delight to watch and he also scored from a pass and move drill. Well done Lucas. Well done all of you. You all deserved the trophy today.

Final score 7-3 win!

U9 Spitfires

Another dominant performance from the boys today against the AFC Stoneham Panthers. The team welcomed back a couple of players who had been off with Covid.

We were quickly in to our passing game and as the match progressed, the goals flew in.

A tough decision for man of the match, as everyone played well, in the end the honour went to our superb keep Jake.

Goals for Jakub 2, Tomo 2 and Alfie 1. Well done boys!

U10 Wolves

Just nine weeks ago we suffered our heaviest defeat of the season to today's opponents. Seven of the Wolves who played that day played again today and this time we won!

This is great development.

It was class on the grass as the Wolves showed that teamwork wins matches. Midfielders were the key to this by supporting both the attack and defence in a formation that most of today's players are now suited to. Tyler continued his good form by making himself available, attacking down the wing, beating defenders and creating chances with low passes or crosses, Oskar Z covered well behind the overlapping runs of Dash, Charlie is reading the game well by covering behind defenders Jude and Dash and supporting the attack with effective dribbling and improved positioning, while Rivers is enjoying life on the left providing box-to-box support.

Another hat-trick! Another different player!

Today it was Noah who kept the scorer busy with an outstanding performance that included accurate shooting, high pressing, tracking back to defend inside his own area and a strong display of stamina in covering most areas of a very heavy pitch.

Whenever his fellow defender was advancing, "indomitable Dominik" was holding everything together at the back against good strikers. Helped also by Reuben's excellent save from a free kick, defending from the front by Oakley and a captain's performance from Finn who also seemed to cover every blade of grass, the Wolves went 59 minutes without conceding until the last kick of the game. But Noah is still our hero of the hour and proud Wolf of the Week. Congratulations Noah and to all the Wolves for 3 wins in a row.

U10 Jaguars

AFC Stoneham Jaguars v Hedge End U10's

A steady start today against a very good Hedge End side saw the Jags go in level after the first quarter. Our defence holding solid with everyone doing exactly as we had practised in training.

Going into the 2nd quarter the whole team started to gel together and with increased effort it wasn't long before we had taken the lead with 2 well taken goals from Sammie and Egit.

Onto the 2nd half and again we continued to push forward and were rewarded with more goals from the mighty duo.

This was backed up with outstanding performances from Anderson between the sticks who totally owned his area with great communication along with some fantastic stops and a clean sheet and Riley B in defence who didn't stop running throughout the game and made numerous interceptions then provided great outlet balls up field.

A great game from the Jags who continue to impress with every game.

U12 Spitfires

U12 Spitfires played away to Whiteley Wanderers in the Tyro Cup on a very frozen 4G pitch. After an excellent couple of performances today was not just our day as we lost 6-1. Score line flatters our opposition but credit to them for taking their chances. Our solitary goal was scored by Harry Halligan with a looping shot from outside the box. POM went to Harley Marjason who kept battling to the end and very vocal on the pitch in trying to lift the boys.

U12 Panthers

Under 12 panthers progressed to the next round of the Tommy Traynor Tyro Trophy with a 5 nil win at home to Winsor White.

It was a comfortable game for the boys whole got a bit lazy at times.

When we got the ball down and kept moving it about we did well.

Goalscorers were Isaac with 2 and singles for Jake, Sam Warner and Liam.

Shout out to the Winsor keeper who played a blinder.

Man of the match went to Joseph who put in a good shift and proved his versatility in playing 3 different positions and doing very well in all of them

U14 Knights

U14 Knights lost 6-3 away against Hurstwood Rangers in the Hampshire Cup. Goals were scored by Adrian and Ewan x 2.

The MOM was Adrian- he won his midfield battles all game, composed on the ball, played some great passes and scored a quality free kick.

A frustrating game for the boys as we were always in the game but errors on our side cost us goals in the end. Boys battled really well, hung in there, played some good football at times and worked for each other wherever they had to play. Just got to learn from today and we go again next week.

U15 Spitfires

U15 Spitfires had a tough day at home to Hamble Club Royals and just lacked a cutting edge going forward. Although we lost 4-0 defensively was good and some great saves from Braydon Morgan in goal. On another day we could have gone in at half time level but just not our day today. Fitness played its part today only have 1 sub but we will look to bounce back stronger next week. POM went to Owen Leece for a captains performance and chose to push forward into midfield instead of defence and put in a solid display!

Well done to all of our teams and thank you to those who sent match reports in
