Saturday 5th Feb round up

Saturday round up

U7 Spitfires played Totton Youth Tigers in the Saturday morning early fixture, and the team was still half asleep at KO and were 2 goals down within 3 mins, the shock soon woke everyone up and the boys battled hard to go in at the break on level terms and after a pretty uneventful second quarter the game really got going after the half time break Asher scored a great goal from outside the box with his weaker foot before Totton managed to grab another couple of goals the turning point of the game was the rocket of a shot by Donnatello that the Stoneham first team keeper would not have stopped, to bring it back level..... Jayden managed to grab the winner after some great passing play! Alfie and Archie were immense and battled for everything with Joey and Charlie the teams main outlets. MOM went to Wilf, though, for saving a number of one on ones, great diving saves, and managing to tip a great freekick onto the crossbar! We are all so proud at how far these boys have come in their first season of football.... Go Spitfires!

U9 Girls

Under 9 girls played away at sunny Ringwood this morning, almost tropical compared to our last trip down.

The girls played amazingly and after a goalless first quarter clicked into gear as the game went on.

Our goalscorers today were Seren with a treble and Matilda.

When we got the ball down and play our football we looked brilliant.

Girl of the game went to Chloe for her all action display in midfield, some amazing passes and great tracking back and tackling too.

Opposition girl of the game went to Millie H in goal for some fine saves to keep a clean sheet.

Well done girls you were as brilliant as always.

Hampshire Cup Semi Final

Mudeford 1 - 9 AFC Stoneham U10 Pumas

Great result for the team today, securing our third consecutive Hampshire Cup final appearance and the opportunity to be Hampshire champions three years in a row.

In the end it was a comfortable win and an opportunity for several players to play in new positions. In the end 6 players got on the scoresheet today (Abbi, Erin, Lauren, Layla & Phoebe), a semi final goal is always a nice memory. Abbie grabbed herself a hat-trick plus 1 despite mainly playing on the wing.

However, the performance wasn’t just about goals, we passed really well and moved the ball really quickly. Our best phases of play started with our defenders being decisive in possession. Roxy & Amelie kept making great decisions which secured them the MoM trophies.

Sophie and Phoebe both showed great composure in possession and in midfield Nancy and Layla put in great performances and were a constant threat.

Our wide players were really dangerous today and our delivery out wide was superb, well done Martha, Aaliyah and Abbie. We targeted scoring goals from crosses and 5-6 came from this

In attacking areas we played loads of combinations with Erin and Lauren combining well, scoring and making goals.

Felt like last season with such a comprehensive win, we are used to really tough battles in the league, so it was a nice relaxed Saturday morning.

Well done Pumas, finalists again, time to get the job done

AFC Stoneham Panthers U10 2 Waltham Wolves 2

Panthers won on penalties

Against opposition from the Division above, the Panthers worked really hard as a team and kept their concentration against a team that played some really good, passing football.

After a goalless first quarter, the Panthers took the lead when a Jessica H corner went into the goal with a deflection off the keeper.

The Panthers went 2-0 up seconds into the 3rd quarter when Jessica H won the ball from the opponents kick off and found the top corner from outside the box.

Waltham Wolves pulled a goal back when a weak effort was judged to have crossed the line and then equalised in the final quarter with an unstoppable shot.

A thoroughly enjoyable game and in the penalty shootout at the end, the Panthers won after Abigail saved a penalty and Jess P netted the winner.

Special mention to a Mirela’s who got off her sick bed to play half the game.

Tornadoes U11 Girls

Semi Final Plate Cup

AFC Stoneham Tornadoes 9

Chineham 1

Well that’s us through to the Final of the Plate Cup! well done team!

A lovely opposition to play today who were a credit to their club!

The first quarter saw a slow start and level ish playing field although we were dominating and had most possession…

Into the second and third quarters we picked up pace with fresh legs and the opposition with no subs so they were tiring quickly up and down the pitch trying to catch our girls…

The pitch was tough going today and was basically solid mud with a few shoots of green substance on top which made our girls really work hard..

A well deserved win with almost double figures but off side disallowed.

Millie and Pheobe players of the day! Well done!

U14 Girls Eagles

U14S EAGLES

CUP SEMI FINAL v WCF KITES

UNBELIEVABLE effort and performance from our girls, who went into this game as massive underdogs.

We absolutely dominated the first half, first to every ball and quick to press and shut down WCF play. With a player short in our usual attacking formation we were still able to threaten the WCF goal and eventually got our deserved reward on 33' after a crucial interception from our keeper Leya and throughball caught the WCF defence napping, and Priya striking home to take us in at half time 1-0 up.

WCF came at us with everything 2nd half, forcing some magnificent saves from Leya. We held them with only 10 minutes to go but couldn't stop them finding the back of the net and equalising on 60'. 1-1.

It was Stoneham who looked like finding a second goal thereafter, with Elvin coming close and being denied a penalty after being pushed and pulled off the ball by 2 WCF defenders right in front of goal.

The girls NEVER quit and deserved a full time result, but were now facing their first ever penalty shoot out.

WCF were able to put away one more penalty than us to see them through to the final, counting their lucky stars no doubt! So proud of our girls who stood up to a very strong County 1 team and turned plenty of heads today!

We wish Wayne and the WCF Kites the best of luck in the final!

U14 Knights

The U14 Knights beat Braishfield Bees away 9-0 playing up a year in the Testway League Div 2. Goals were from Brad (10’), Waseem x 4 (12’, 15’, 17’, 20’), Jared (23’), Elliot (40’) and Brandon (57’ and 68’).

Great first half performance, dominating the ball, creating chance after chance. Second half the intensity dropped but continued to dominate possession and came out clear winners. Will S given MOM for his determination and quality of his deliveries into the front 2 which made it a nightmare for the opposition to defend against.

Well done to all of our teams especially those girls teams who progressed to cup finals and our U14 Eagles who sadly lost a penalty shootout to higher league opposition
