Saturday 18th Dec - Girls Round Up

Girls Saturday Round Up

U10 Panthers

AFC Stoneham Panthers 4

Romsey Town Lionesses 0

The Panthers last game of the year was arranged by the league against a team from the league above to assess the level of both teams.

The Panthers played some of their best football of the season and ended up comfortable 4-0 winners thanks to a hat trick from Jessica H and a lovely top corner finish from Jessica P.

Away team POM - Georgia

Parents POM - Georgia

Managers POM - Emily

The girls then had their Xmas party at Ninja Warrior. They’ve come so far from three players at the start of August to the team they are now!

U11 Girls Tornadoes

AFC Stoneham Tornadoes 6

Whiteley 0

An excellent performance by the Tornadoes this morning away to a Whiteley squad.

Tornadoes dominated both halves and created their own opportunities with no luck given to them and fought for every chance they made.

We had three further chances by way of alledged offside and a further disallowed penalty due to a blatant foul so the score line could have been higher but a pre Christmas win keeps the girls motivated over the festive period!

U11 Girls Pumas

Stubbington 4 - 5 Pumas

What a great way to sign off 2021, with a hard fought win away to 3rd place Stubbington. They are always tough opposition and today the girls dug in, battled, and the game was decided by a few moments of genuine quality in the final third. It’s important to say we won despite missing 2 talented players today.

The opposition managers were effusive in their praise ‘your girls go from strength to strength’ and ‘technically your players are another level, some of them should play for academies’. I’m sure one day they will!

It’s been a disruptive year but John, Waca and Nick have held the team together, and we’ve finished up joint top, with players developing both technically and tactically. Admittedly, we’ve lost some coaching attributes but we’ve gained others, and i think that means that when the girls are confronted with a challenge now, they just dig deep. Bravo

Layla N, you’ve been the busiest keeper we’ve ever had, and you’ve stepped into the team brilliantly.

At the back, Sophie started slowly but made vital tackles in the last 10 minutes, it could’ve been 5-5. Believe in yourself, limitless potential.

Roxy, still on the mend but showed her usual tenacity in the tackle.

Abbi J. What A Performance. Absolutely exploded as a player in the last month or so, quality of passing, bravery on the ball, great decision making. Vital today.

Phoebe. Roy Keane-esque performance. You

don’t win tough away games like that without players who are willing to put it all on the line. Real rock today at CDM.

Nancy. Your ability to deliver performances like that at the moment are a testament to your mental strength. Driving midfield display, one of the best I’ve seen from any player, wonderful range of passing and a vital goal . Managers Player , your mum will be very proud

Lauren. Played centrally today, gave us heart and fight in the middle, and recognised by the Opposition Always looked to create and showed some great awareness defensively.

Martha. Up against their strong RM you gave us stability and shape and never gave up.

Aaliyah. The only player who could compete with their No 7 for pace. Really dynamic performance on the wing, you were a threat and one of the few players who won their 1v1 when attacking

Erin. You don’t half moan when you don’t get the ball but when you had it, you made things happen. Scored from the edge of the box and the corners were on point today.

Abbie. Scored twice, played 5 different positions and was influential in all. Training on Monday was one of the best training displays I’ve seen, carried that into the game and I was stood right behind your top bins finish for the 2nd. Enjoyed watching that fly in

2021 has been a bit up and down for us all but the one thing that doesn’t change is the commitment and quality of our daughters performances on the pitch.

I’ve seen some magical moments and look forward to what the NY will bring. Enjoy your success Pumas but remember ‘hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard’ so make sure you get the football out over Christmas

U13 girls report

Long drive away at Bognor Regis.

A game we dominated from start to finish however there were times we needed our ever reliable goalkeeper, Flo, to step up and she did with some high quality saves.

We came in 1-1 at HT with an opening goal from Grace Davie.

Grace Davie then scored again for 1-2. Hetti Webb scored a cracker from 25 yards for 1-3 and then Cherice Johnson topped it off with a nice turn and finish from 18 yards.

FT Bognor Regis 1-4 AFC Stoneham

A convincing win to finish 2021 on an 8 game unbeaten run. These girls are improving every game and we are up to 3rd in the league!!

Purps U14 girls Lionesses 2

Eastleigh ITC 2

A game reminiscent of my school report, ie 'could do better & doesn't work hard enough' just about sums up the Purps performance today. Most of the team appearing to be in self isolation for long periods of time.

A scrappy game throughout, played to Eastleighs strengths, and they deserved to be 1 up at half time.

The Purps started the 2nd half better, and a Chloe assist set up Amy to equalise after holding off defenders well. Then, as if by magic, the Purps reverted back to the 1st half performance, letting Eastleigh bully them around, and within 2 mins the Purps were behind again. A well taken goal by Essex with 10mins to go felt like a robbery and more than we deserved (but we'll take the point)

A couple of girls stood out, Annabel was tireless in midfield, and Brewer was excellent at the back, constantly in the right place at the right time.

So the year ends with another draw, but it won't take much to turn these games around into wins.

Happy Christmas everyone

COYP

Well done to all of our girls teams !!
