Sunday Round Up
U8 Panthers
Panthers U8 Report What a game to finish the year off with, against our wolves team, both teams played well but we never looked like losing after the 2nd period. Our evergy, determination and drive was too much for them. David was again brilliant in goal, with some fine saves and good kicking out. Oliver and James defended brilliantly with some good passing out from the back. Ollie and Harry were both in fine form, tackling and passing the ball and both of them scored. Henry, bossed the midfield, with some crunching tackles and powerful shots, and got got the scoresheet twice. Jenson was all over the pitch today, bagged himself a hat trick and was tackling when needed, especially with the last ditch tackle against their player, But my man of the match went to Lucas today, even though he didn’t score, his all round football was a pleasure to watch, tackling, passing through, shooting and moment was excellent today. Well done Lucas, well done all of you today, one proud manager. Final score 8-3 win.
U8 Spitfires
U8 Spitfires ended the year against Bursledon Stars and played some excellent football. Dominated possession and scored 2 great team goals. Elliott Finch & Zach Curtis scoring the goals. Superb performances by all the boys and a great end to the year. POM went to Zach Curtis got great defending and a well taken goal.
U10 Royals
U10 Royals had an amazing game to end off the year.
Through implementing the work from training, the royals didn’t allow the opposition to have a proper shot on goal and caused their defence nothing but trouble and scored plenty of goals, including a hat trick from Nate and a wonder goal from Jake, who took a fantastic touch, turned past a defender and lashed the ball top bins!
Purp of the match was a very difficult choice, with 10/10 performances from everyone on that pitch but it went to Jake today for his goal. Special mentions go to Marcus and Noah for their incredible team play and plenty of assists between them.
U10 Spitfires
A strong team performance today from the Under 10 Spitfires with a hat trick from man of the match Bushy, and also a goal from Freds. The boys played some great football, passing it around well and having several chances being saved or hitting the bar. Wishing everyone at the club a wonderful Christmas.
U10 Wolves
U10 Wolves report:
We almost saw a Christmas thriller as the Wolves were swarmed into first half submission by the Warsash Wasps, before providing a sting of their own to win an end-to-end second half.
It was a slow start with players not keeping to roles or positions. Dominik gave us reason to cheer with some good saves in his first game as goalkeeper before the boys did finally settle, although there was a second half mountain to climb that was very nearly scaled.
It was time for more width and more running, and with this came more spirit and flair. Fuku was excellent as he began to dominate the left side, first scoring himself then setting up Oskar P for his much deserved first goal of the season (although he still claims an earlier one as well). Then it was Adam, now charging down the right, who finished well to score our third before Fuku cut inside and shot with composure for his second and the Wolves' fourth.
Special mention to Dash who produced the defensive moment of the game, chasing back from half-way to reach then tackle their excellent centre forward as he was about to shoot, before bringing the ball calmly out of defence. His speed and skills are always a joy to watch but his additional passion and determination today in the face of some adversity makes Dash our Wolf of the Week.
Well done everyone on a gutsy second half and nearly an amazing comeback.
U11 Lions
Really good performances today in spite of the result, a good fight to end 2021 from the Lions.
Man of the match goes to Olly for his brilliant performance. Positives definitely to be taken today, but first a well deserved break for the team. Bring On 2022, Up The Lions!
Totton and Eling Allstars v AFC Stoneham Spitfires U13.
We arrived for our top of the table clash against Totton, with only a bare 11 players. It was a closely contested first half with chances at both ends. Sadly, a minute before half time Logan received an injury and was unable to play any further part in the game. 0-0 half time and we were down to 10 men. The second half proved how deep the boys can dig when under pressure. The whole team were awesome , defending wave after wave of attacks. Unfortunately we conceded in the 68th minute losing 1-0. This was sadly the last game for Sean Light as he moves on to a new challenge. Sean and his family will be greatly missed.
U14 Wolves
Much better performance from the boys today another very hard thought Derby day but same result.
Boys battled hard and had to handle multiple moments of pressure throughout the game. Boys took the lead from a great back post header from George B before Panthers equalised in second half. Both goalies pulled out some fantastic saves today a cracking shot from Alfie p saw a fine save from Panthers. Game continued to be end to end before Kyle sneaked a late goal in to finish a great move. George E continued to pull of some good saves before deep in deeper injury time we unfortunately conceded again.
Game finished 2-2
U14 Panthers match report
U14 Panthers played out a tight 2-2 draw vs the Wolves. The boys went behind in the first half, and despite missing a number of opportunities came in 1-0 down. During the second half Will Hosmer equalised before the wolves added a second. Will scored however scored again to level up the scores. The players voted Kunashe Musonza as man of the match. Managers man of the match was the excellent Thomas Cole. A huge thank you also to Fin Morgan for keeping goal in the second half.
U13 Panthers
AFC Stoneham Panthers U13. 3
Romsey Town Cougars U13. 2
3 league wins in a row, so really pleased with how the boys have worked over the last few weeks.
Romsey took the lead on 8 mins from a corner. We then pulled the game level on 16 mins from a throw-in through to David who took on a couple of players before smashing it in the top right corner. Great goal! Romsey took the lead again on 33 mins with a break down the left to make it 1-2 at half-time.
We were awarded a penalty for handball on 43 mins which was saved by the goalie but nicely followed up by Karlos to make it 2-2. The game then descended into a bit of a scrappy affair but the boys kept going and we were awarded another penalty with 2 mins to go when David broke down the left and was fouled through on goal. David calmly stepped up to take it with a controlled placement into the bottom right-hand corner to win the game 3-2!
We've played better this season and not come away with anything so it was great to pocket the three points and another win. Well battled today boys.
U14 Knights
An injury & illness depleted U14 Knights lost at home 3-4 to Salisbury. Goals were from Sam B, Ben and Adrian.
MOM was Will. Exemplary performance from a player that wouldn't give up and continually wanted more from everyone in the team. Deserved more today but have to swallow the loss and move on.
U15 Spitfires
Spitfires ended the year at home to Netley Royals and spent majority of the 1st half defending but the boys defended so well which was topped off by a penalty save from Braydon Morgan. 2nd half the boys offered more threat going forward and Harry Cull put the boys ahead with a sweet strike. Game then turned into a defending master class and looked like the win was ours but in the space of 2 mins went from being 1 up to 2-1 down and this being in the last few mins. Gutted for the boys as deserved more. POM went to Braydon Morgan who was outstanding in goal with not only his penalty save but 3 excellent saves at 1 nil keeping the boys ahead.
