Saturday 20th Nov - Round Up

SATURDAY ROUND UP

U7 Spitfires

U7 Spitfires continued their fine run of form against a very physical and organised side in Sholing Youth U7 White. The first quarter played out goalless with both teams testing each other out but with Sholing seeing more of the ball this continued in the second quarter but Spitfires managed to score 2 quick goals against the run of play with Jaydon and Donatello getting on the score sheet and we went in at half time with the lead. Sholing pulled one back after the break but the game was put out of reach by 2 quick goals by MOM Archie coupled with fine battling and defensive displays by Archie, Asher and Alfie before Finley capped off some great team passing with a goal.

U9 Girls

Under 9 girls continue to play amazingly and achieve positive results.

In our second game in division 1 we played away to an Alresford team who have been playing together for a season longer and the girls more than held there own.

It was an even 1st half with both teams failing to score from good play following some brilliant goalkeeping from both team.

We fell one behind in the 3rd quarter but through hard work and good play we got a deserved equaliser in the 4th Quarter.

Our goalscorer today was Chloe.

Shout out to Genevieve and Edith playing for the first time today, they were both brilliant and slotted in well with the other girl.

Girl of the game went to Genevieve.

Well done girls keep smiling.

Thanks to the parents too for their amazing support.

U10 Girls

AFC Stoneham Panthers U10 girls 5 Gosport Violets U10 girls 0

Emily opened the scoring for AFC Stoneham (her first goal in a couple of seasons) with a tidy finish from the edge of the box.

Jessica H scored two, the second a long distance free kick.

Jessica Prince also scored two - although the second took at least two deflections before rolling over the line.

A clean sheet was another plus. All 3 girls in goal (Abigail, Aimee and Imogen) attend extra goalkeeping sessions with first team keeper Tom and his help seems to be working!

U11 Pumas

Whiteley 1 - 7 AFC Stoneham

Playing up a year, 9 a side, with no subs is no easy task but we grew into the game and ran out comfortable winners.

The focus today was retaining possession and our structure, and we did that really well. Despite conceding early on we didn’t panic and kept playing good football.

The game changed with two moments of quality, a shot from the edge of the box and some quick footwork and a slide rule pass and finish to put us 2-1 up. From there, we dominated the game.

Our 4 goalies were impressive today.

Aaliyah put in a 2020 throwback performance starting in goal then scoring two cracking goals. The first was all about pace and determination, the second a goal of the season contender from the edge of the box, absolute belter.

Next up, Erin, who is returning to form higher up the pitch as a 10, creating lots of opportunities for the team, scoring the opening goal and capping the performance off with a lovely L-Drag onto her right before slotting past the GK. Managers Player today, movement off the ball impressive.

Lauren showed great tenacity in midfield, won lots of headers and scored 2 goals but I think was most happy with her save on goal. Opposition player today, held your position brilliantly today.

Our final GK Abbi J gave us a nervy moment but came away with a clean sheet. Good in midfield, great in defence, made a big difference dropping back and showing lots of composure on the ball.

In defence, Sophie grew into the game, always calm on the ball and positive in her 1v1s. Always found space to receive from the goalie, really brave.

Roxy had a rock solid performance today and was positive in possession. Layla’s goal was a direct consequence of determination and positive passing. Put in a great midfield stint 2nd half.

Phoebe, dropped in at CDM and always showed for the ball. If I want anything from a player it’s a desire to receive the ball under pressure and release it to players in better positions. Our Veratti.

Tough shift out wide today, lots of graft required. Layla must’ve got bored hearing my voice but as always incredibly competitive and made her goal with sheer determination. Lots of quality on the ball too, played numerous breaking line passes.

Martha, up and down, taking players on, always holds her position and was up against their speed merchant No 12. Quietly did a great job today.

We’ve passed the ball better in the last 2 weeks than I’ve seen for a while which is important against bigger teams.

Keep the ball moving and we could win the league

U13 Girls

Away to Fordingbridge Turks who are unbeaten and beat us 2-1 early this season… a tough game ahead for our outstanding group of girls….

1st half we came out of the traps buzzing, our work rate was superb, no time on the ball for the opponent, we were swarming forward, wave after wave using our pace out wide…. What a start, we were dominant, then we got the goal. Sophie Freeman on the left squaring for Lillie Banks to fire home from close range. 0-1 up.

Defensively we stood firm, winning 1v1 battles and tackles across the pitch.

HT Fordingbridge 0-1 AFC Stoneham.

We were out working them but we asked for even more… more running more sprints, more effort. Wow, the girls gave it. Unbelievable to see.

Midfield and defence were performing at a new level. We had chances, their GK making a great save to deny Cherice.

Fordingbridge were hitting us on the break… but the defenders weren’t having any of it. Big tackles at the right time.

Our best performance so far this season….

FT Fordingbridge 0-1 AFC Stoneham

4 games unbeaten for the girls. Simply brilliant - all of them

U14 Boys Knights

U14 Knights beat Sway Juniors away 11-0 in the U15 Testway League Cup. Hatrick’s from Elliot & Ben, a brace for Brad and goals from Adrian, Kenz & Waseem with Kenz’s being an absolute thunderbolt from distance.

Mom was Kenz for a 2nd half performance to be proud of. Worked hard to get up and down the touch line and capped it off with the goal of the game.

Great sportsmanship from The Knights as well when they reduced their numbers to 8 players in the 2nd half to even the game out allowing the opposition more of the play .

This was an enjoyable morning out in the New Forest with ponies being shooed from the pitch & pony dung being shovelled off the pitch to allow kick off to commence!!

U16 Girls JPL

Today AFC Stoneham U16 JPL side had an away fixture in the Hampshire Cup against Eastleigh whites U16. Very positive start for the Purps, with a goal after 8 mins! The girls continued to apply pressure with Ede scoring a hatrick! Goals also coming from Molly Gladwell and Aimee Gritt.

Halftime the girls were a comfortable 7-0 up after some fantastic link up play and great finishing!

Second half, the manager changed the team up, and with one more goal coming from Kezia the game finished 8-0 with AFC Stoneham U16 jpl through to the next round of the Hampshire Cup

Some great results and match reports !

Well done to everyone
