Saturday Dec 3rd round up

Saturday Round Up

U7 Spitfires

So proud of the boys today. There were outstanding individual performances today but the main positive was how they all worked as a team, supporting each other, working hard for each other and checking on each other when they took a tumble. Which ultimately resulted in an incredible match.

Oscar was an absolute hero today and made so many saves giving us a solid platform to build on. Carlos as usual was an absolute Rock in defence protecting Oscar whilst providing some great balls forward for the boys to chase. Ted and Rylee for only their second game in this team were both amazing, you didn't stop running, tackling and doing your absolute best for the team. Especially great as you both didn't feel 100% massive well done. Dev, you were everywhere today, tracking back and breaking through the oppositions line to create chances for yourself and your team mates. As well as taking a few tackles along the way. A really brave performance and well taken goal. The Rock didn't stop running and was rewarded with 3 goals .

Finally our player of the match today Ellis, what a star. Just didn't stop running, tackling, passing and giving his all for the team, he was rewarded with 2 goals and an absolutely brilliant freekick. What impressed me most though was how he was the first to check on his teammates when they got hurt. Great performance Ellis and thoroughly deserved your award. He will now Captain the side in our next game as will all Motm winners from now on. A little incentive to the boys.

U7 Wolves

Off the back of a superb display last week the Wolves had the bit between their teeth today. Our passing and tackling was too much to handle and the lads' finishing was top drawer today. Some highlights to pick out were a solo effort from the back from Jacob, a wonderful free kick from Fyfe and an instinctive volley from Ollie. Our all round game was great with Louie, Jack, Harry and Vinnie dominating possession and making runs all game. Defensively we were solid and hardly gave the opposition a sniff. Players of the match today are Vinnie and Jack who both exemplified the determination and belief that we want to have as a team. Super stuff Wolves!

U9 Panthers

Unlucky today boys.

That was a tough game today.

Didn’t help ourselves in the 1st quarter conceding early goals, after that it was a uphill struggle! Thought we gave them too much respect, we needed to press all the time, the moment we stopped, they punished us.

Not taking anything away from them, they are a very good team. Man of the match went to Harry, is energy, workrate and tackling was outstanding today. Well done Harry.

Special mention to Jenson and Henry for their magical moments today.

U11 Girls Lionesses.

Whilst the result was not the greatest today the team had a great day out to the Isle of Wight.

Without a recognised goalkeeper again today we owe a huge thanks to both Sophia & Millie for playing a half each - you were both amazing!

The girls tried their best throughout and never gave up whilst many of the girls struggled with not feeling great they gave it there all and should be proud

Managers POTM today went to Floss who showed great footwork and improving week after week.

Parents POTM went to Eliana for constantly rising to the occasion with some great tackles and determination.

Well done girls, your behaviour throughout the day has been fantastic and will be a credit to Stoneham.

U12 Girls Lionesses

Well done to our little lionesses today what a turn around 1up at half time, losing 3-1 with 5mins to go then winning 4-3!!! Bo symonds getting girl of the match after going up front for last 5mins and scoring last two goals proud of the team..

AFC Stoneham Girls Panthers U11 3 Emsworth Town Pumas U11. 1

Whether it was the freezing cold wind or just an off day, the Panthers really struggled to get into this Cup Quarter Final in the first half and deservedly fell behind.

Abigail kept the Panthers in the game with a couple of saves from long distance shots and Mirela was unlucky to level the score with a fine solo run which she was unable to finish.

A few words of encouragement at half time seemed to have the desired effect and the Panthers took control in the second half.

Jess H was bought back on and made an instant impact. The hard working Jess P put her through and the shot from Jess H went across goal into the top corner.

Jess H put the Panthers 2-1 ahead with a similar goal before Mimi went past a couple of tackles before slotting home.

In the end, a place in the semi final was fully deserved.

Away POM - Mimi

Parents POM - Jess P
