Saturday Round Up
U7 Wolves.
The Wolves welcomed Wyvern today and it was a case of history repeating last week. The match was played in a firm but fair manner, with some excellent tackles and blocks from both sides. We looked in control of midfield for the first 3/4s but a few unlucky moments went against us in both boxes in the last few minutes. All the goalkeepers made good saves, Fyfe, Adam and Harry got forward to take their opportunities well. Jacob and Louie both made some mazy runs out of defense, Ollie, Vinnie and Jack were menaces with their speed and agility and all worked hard to get back to support their team mates. We're really close to getting the results we want in this division; just need to crack that last quarter! We have two MoM awards - Fan's vote went to Adam and Coach's went to Harry today.
U9 Rovers JPL
U9 Rovers came up against Socca FC in our penultimate game of the competition games. The boys controlled the game in the early stages with high pressing but just could not get a goal. Early in the 2nd 3rd our pressure paid off when a mistake led to Harrison finishing into an empty net. The boys continued to control the game and some great skill and a superb strike from Chase gave the boys a deserved 2-0 lead. Opponents hit back in the game from a lofted ball over the top and then a equaliser followed although not deserved. Boys rallied together and pushed for a winner but just could not find that winner although POM Henry Polkinghorne cane closest when he struck the bar. Great effort today and hard on the boys not to come away with the win.
U11 Girls Lionesses
A stuttering start for the U11 Lionesses today, falling 2 goals behind in the first half, a positive pep talk at half time seemed to push the girls on and in the second half took control of the game!
Unfortunately we couldn’t turn possession into goals and the second half saw no more goals for either side.
Huge shout out for Sienna, after establishing herself in the game, she became an immovable object with numerous strong fair tackles and today takes the honour of Managers Player of the Game!
Although conceding 2 goals today, Scarlett played an absolute blinder in between the posts to keep the score respectable!
U11 Girls Panthers
Moneyfields Yellows 4
AFC Stoneham Panthers 1
The Panthers lost their first game of the season with a poor performance on a dreadful pitch.
The first third of the game was quite equal and the Panthers should have been ahead but missed a couple of good chances and hit a post.
They were made to pay for the missed chances as the hosts scored two quick goals to take a 2-0 lead.
Lyra pulled a goal back with a tidy finish after running through the visitors defence to make the score 2-1 at half time.
Despite a lot of possession in the second half, the Panthers couldn’t find an equaliser and were punished late on with 2 goals on the counter attack.

U15 Knights
U15 Knights won 6-1 away against Clarendon in the U16 Testway League Cup.
Having conceded an early goal the Knights went on to score 2 before half time and 4 after. The goal scorers were Ads, Will x2, Oliver, Brandon and Elliot S (p). Game of two halves again today…. Boys much better in the second half. Despite the opposition and pitch the boys played good football at times, created some good chances and scored a couple of quality goals. MOTM goes to Will. Couple of quality goals at the right times in the game and created a number of good chances for the team. Onto the next round we go. Well done boys. .
U16 Panthers
After a long drive for an early 9:30 KO up at Newbury, The Panthers started the game in the wide awake club and scored with their second attack after great work on the right wing by Harvey Reid who finished the move off slotting past the keeper to the near post. This set the tone for the day with the Panthers dominating possession creating chance after chance and but for some superb goalkeeping from the Woolton Hill keeper would have been four up within the first 15 minutes.
As the game wore on, The Panther began to turn to dominance into goals and great finishes from Fred Young, Ollie Gorniak and another from Harvey saw them lead 4-0 at the interval.
The second half started in a similar way with The Panthers dominating the ball creating more and more chances however Woolton Hill struck against the run of play after a slip on a very muddy pitch allowed them to pull a goal back.
The Panthers responded and within one minute of the restart broke through after some great midfield interchanges and Ollie Gorniak scored his second and very shortly afterwards secured his hat trick after slotting home down the right side of the keeper. George Hunt made it 7 with a jinky run in the box and finished convincingly. Skipper Keiran Wilkins scored a fully deserved 8th goal from a corner rising above everyone in the box to powerfully head home and Rupert Gray scored a ferocious volley from 10 yards out to finish the job and make it 9 goals.
A good day on the road for The Panthers and worth leaving home at 7:30!
U18 Girls
AFC Stoneham Pumas v
AFC Stoneham JPL
Hampshire Cup
Today saw us in a derby match, for the Hampshire Cup, against Stoneham Pumas.
A beautiful sunny day with no wind, perfect conditions for this winter match.
We started rather erratically, clearly the stakes of playing a rival club team causing some initial nerves.
We soon settled and the flow returned.
Our midfield were solid throughout and our defence rarely allowed them through to take a shot.
When they did penetrate the defence wall, Holly, in goal, was unphased and caught with ease.
In the first half, Darcey banged in 3 goals in 10 minutes, 1 a superb penalty take. A 4th was then hit home by Aimee just before the half time whistle.
We stayed strong throughout the second half seeing 3 more goals, 1 from Mia, another from Darcey & goal 7 came courtesy of Aimee.
A great performance from the whole team. Well done.
Well done to all of our teams who played on Saturday.
