U8 Thunder v U8 Wolves

Brand new AFC Stoneham U8 Thunder v AFC Stoneham U8 Wolves

Everyone had a great time and played really well today. Goals from Jack and Aristotelis. With only 2 training sessions under their belt the team worked really hard today.

Onwards and upwards!

AFC Stoneham U8 scorpions Vs Mob Albion Youth

Only scorpions second ever game and we played a tightly contested game, having gone down to start with.

Goals from Jax and from Nate helped us claw our way back into the game, it could of easily gone the other way after a few close chances flew past the Mob Albion post and Jax had an effort cleared off the line in the first half.

A very entertaining match to be seen by all.

U 8 Stubbington Penguins Vs AFC Stoneham Lionesses Cup game

The lionesses made an early trip to Stubbington for their first cup game!

Carrying on the momentum from last weeks game, the girls game onto the pitch fierce and ready for action! Showing great defence throughout, with a few hard pressing moments from the opposition, whilst our up front team worked hard to keep the ball out of our half of the pitch.

Goalie, Harper showing strength and determination throughout the game saving some cracking goals and wowing the parents and opposition management keeping guard of her area throughout whilst facing some strong moments 1 on 1.

Hope, Florence & summer carrying on their goal tallies!!

Opposition player of the match chosen by the Penguins was Harper with her second oPoTM of the season!

Now resting for our next festival of the season at Winklebury

Phoenix U8 girls first cup game

The girls came together well today, passing and making some excellent play. Star goalie Millie on top form as usual and getting yet another mention from the opposition coach! Shannarah solid in defence and Ksenia, Nancie and Sinead making some excellent runs in midfield.

Our goal scorers Mia and Maisie; who put two past the opponents today, working hard up front. POTM went to our defender Matilda who worked so hard going forward time and time again, presenting herself with many goalscoring chances but unfortunately couldn’t finish.

Amazing teamwork today from the Phoenixes who go through to the next round

U9 Girls Phoenix

The first cup weekend of the seasons saw a home tie against Worthys, a team the Phoenix’s have struggled to break down in the past and today was no different.

It took until the last kick of the second quarter for Rosie to break the deadlock with some brilliant skill after picking up the loose ball from a corner, skipping past 3 players and hitting it top bins for her first goal of the season. In the third quarter saw Grace also score her first goal of the season, showing great instinct in the box to be at the right place at the right time to slot home. Amelie was next to get a piece of the action, after her shot somehow made it through the Worthys keeper that didn’t deserve it after her performance!

It was a hard day where we have huffed and puffed. We left everything out on the pitch and got what we deserved! Summer, Rosie, Taylor and Amelia worked really hard in midfield along with Issy, Grace and Wren in defence! Amelie had worked hard closing down the defenders to get the ball back higher up the pitch too but Amelia won player of the match for working tirelessly and being disciplined at the same time! Well done girls!

AFC Stoneham Youth U12 Girls Tigers vs City Ladies U12 Rubies

A tough game for our Tigers today. We faced a Division Three opponent in our first cup match. Nothing to worry about as we will be playing for the plate from now on.

The opposition was a very skilled team with good positioning, consistently winning challenges and giving us a lot of trouble. Having said that, the girls tried their best and never gave up, which is something to be proud of in this difficult situation.

We started the game with high intensity; our positioning was good, and we were defending well. The opposition kept high pressure in our half and scored two good goals midway through the half. We continued playing well, but we were no match for their skills and ended up losing the first half 5-0.

In the second half, we set ourselves the goal of not letting them score and scoring one goal ourselves. Despite trying our best, their defenders bested our attack, and we conceded one goal, which was just a splendid shot by their attackers—nothing that our defence or our goalkeeper could do.

Overall, it was a solid performance. We continue to keep our shape and learn in important areas of the game. We need to be more aware of the game and move better as a unit, as we are leaving too many gaps between our attack and our defence. We hope that in the next few weeks, we can come back strong from this bad patch that we are going through.

Well done everyone to all of our teams especially our new teams playing their first ever games!
