U8 Lionesses V Andover New Street Ice Vixens

Lionesses played their second game of the season and what a great game it was!!

With having only just 5 players for the game due to sickness and no rolling on for subs to allow the girls to catch their breath..

No matter the result at the end the girls still came off with a smile!!

The girls showed great team ethic throughout and enjoyed showing of their new football kit too!

Our goalie having saved some cracking goals and become a lot more stronger and braver from the season before makes the team and parents proud!

Our one and only number 7 showing some great defending with her strong team mates.. not only being great in defence but she owned the whole field.. with nearly finishing the game with a potential goal of the season and missing with it landing on the goalies line from one powerful kick from the half way line!

Well done to our U8 lionesses for keeping their heads high and coming together as a team and a massive thank you to Andover for travelling this way for a great game!!

AFC Stoneham U8 Phoenix Girls v Worthy Girls Lionesses

All the girls played their hearts out today and had fun doing it! Lots of goals in the game and impressive teamwork. Our star keeper Millie on form as usual. However our smallest but mightiest player Sinead, winning player of the match this week for her hard work and a well deserved goal!

U9 Phoenix Girls vs Stubbington Bluebirds

After a shaking off some pre season rust from last weekend the girls found themselves on top of a stubborn Stubbington team in the first quarter which Issy missed a penalty and Amelie managed to score an amazing goal with her left foot!

The girls carried on battling hard for each other. Grace, Taylor and Amelia worked well together to supply a golden opportunity for Summer which she took!

After losing the lead Maisie made and amazing save that came off her leg, on to her arm and just over the cross bar. This was a turning point in the game.

Grace picked the ball up from defence travelled well with the ball and assisted Wren with her goal. POTM Mya got herself on the scoresheet in the final quarter after a brilliant performance!

AFC Whiteley Youth U12 Girls vs AFC Stoneham Youth U12 Girls Tigers

Final score: 7-1

Today, we played our second game of the season. We wanted to carry on the positive momentum from our first victory last week, but unfortunately, the opposition was stronger than us. The result does not reflect the girls' effort, as we had only nine players. Grace had to sit out most of the second half due to injury, and Ellie was under the weather.

We started strong. During the first 20 minutes, we dominated the game with great positioning and movement as a unit. Isla scored her first goal for the Tigers after outrunning the opposition’s defence and finishing beautifully in front of the keeper. Well done, Isla! The opposition’s manager told us that after the start, he thought we would win comfortably. However, the opposition woke up and started to play better. We began to lose our shape and conceded one good goal from them. After that, we lost concentration and freshness, allowing them to score two more goals in the last ten minutes, mainly due to errors in goal-side positioning, which we need to practice in the coming weeks.

The second half was one-sided. Our Tigers were tired, and Grace had to leave the pitch with an injury. The opposition lent us a player, and we lost shape completely. Despite the best efforts of Thalia and Ava in defence, we were constantly outnumbered, and even though Kahlan made many good saves, we could not stop them from scoring.

There are a lot of things for the Tigers to learn and improve on. We need to be proud of our positioning and concentration at the start and be aware that we are a side to be feared when we do it. Also, Maya and Thalia performed very well in positions they tried for the first time. This proves that they concentrate on the game and understand how the team plays. We will continue working on our positioning.

Totton vs AFC Stoneham jaguars

U13 girls match

A great performance from the Jaguars in the first half, with the even play not reflected in the half-time score of 4-0 to Totton.

The second half was much brighter for the girls with the Jaguars pressure rewarded with multiple corners and throw ins, one period of excellent passing, leading to a goal by Evie , quickly followed by a second from Masey

bringing the score to 4-2 before Totton responded with a further goal.

Stoneham continued to dominate with strong passing and defence, Despite multiple chances by both teams, Stoneham's defence remained solid, preventing Totton from scoring further. Stoneham created several opportunities but couldn't add more goals, securing a 5:2 win for Totton.

U13 Girls Stoneham Phoenixes vs Mudeford Phoenixes 5-1

Games against this team have always been tight, our girls ending up losing by one goal. But today the AFC Stoneham Phoenixes went in with a lot of determination. They set the scene 2mins in with a goal from Ella on Maelys’ assist. Cara then scored at the 12th minute on Ella’s assist. An own goal from the opposition secured us a 3-0 at half time.

Overall a great first half, dominating the game 80% of the time with lots of unlucky tries (4 from Maelys, 1 from Cara, 1 from Ella and 1 from Ali), and a strong defense with a great performance from Milly C. and Harriet.

The second half was a bit more challenging but the Phoenixes kept battling with some unlucky tries from Ali, Cara and Ella and great saves from Sofia.

Ella ended the game with a hat trick scoring twice during the second half (7 min and 22 min in) .

The opposition scored at the end of the game.

Full time 5-1

Coaches players of the match: Harriet and Ella

Opposition’s player of the match: Maelys

U14 Spitfires vs Infinity Lions

The Spitfires ran out 3-0 winners against Infinity Lions in the early kick off this morning. Stoneham started slowly and lacked urgency, with the boys playing the slow ball. The Spitfires had a couple of chances from corners and Carmel pulled off a great save to see the game 0-0 at half time. Toddy’s half time team talk seemed to eventually do the trick in the last 20 minutes of the match when the Spitfires looked much more threatening by playing the quicker passes and maintaining possession. The deadlock was broken by a great shot by Josh from outside of the area, clipping the top of Ed’s head on the way in. Alfie soon after latched onto a short back pass to the Lions’ keeper, beating him to the ball and tapping the ball into the corner of the net. Stoneham then resisted a bit of pressure from a corner with the Lions having several shots blocked by the resilient Spitfires’ defence. It was then Stoneham’s time to press the Lions back into their box with the ball eventually falling to Louis who skilfully beat the defender with a double drag back to tap the ball into the empty net. Man of the match went to Fletch for a good battle with the Lions’ striker throughout and for influencing the team by speeding up play from the back in the second half. #ToddyIn

Well done to all of our teams !!
