Shaftesbury Preview

AFC Stoneham take on Shaftesbury for the first time this season in the Wessex Premier League on Tuesday 7th February with a 7:45pm kick-off.

 AFC Stoneham:

ThePurps come into this game in great form, winning eight of their last 10 and keeping up their unbeaten record at Stoneham Lane in the league this season.

Their last match was a 3-0 win over Fareham Town, in which goals from Mat Bainbridge, Scott Hills and Duarte Martins, saw Stoneham add another three points to their collection.

Goalkeeper Callum Lee also got his first clean sheet since returning from injury, something that will help Stoneham’s goal difference come the end of the season.

This was also top scorer Martins’ 30th goal of the season, something he will look to add to on Tuesday against a Shaftesbury team that has caused Stoneham problems in seasons before.

Shaftesbury:

Shaftesbury come into this match in fluctuating form, with their most recent result being a 3-0 defeat to league leaders AFC Portchester.

Finishing third last year, Shaftesbury have had a transition period that has seen new management come in, with the club now sitting in 8th on 32 points.

Their top scorer is Ashley Pope on 11 goals, with nine of these coming in the league, suggesting he could be a tough opponent against a Stoneham defence who have kept 11 clean sheets in the league this season.

This will be the first time these clubs have met this season, with the previous two being draws, showing that Shaftesbury are always tricky customers and that it should be a good game to watch!
