WEEKEND ROUND UP: SAT SEPT 23

SATURDAY ROUND UP

Drum roll…

What a great day for our teams!!

U7 Age Goup

Lee Rangers V Spitfires

The game started off physically tough for the Spitfire boys as the Lee Ranger boys wanted to show them the challenge ahead. The Spitfires rose to the challenge and showed them they are up for anything. Strikes happened early from Teddy, Ollie & Joel who are a great reward to the team

Throughout the game Jackson stayed calm with excellent passing dictating the play all whilst commanding the backline!

Joel and Eli added commitment to the boys whilst Joel was full of a full on action display with 2 great goals after his hat-trick with Eli clinically finishing another goal!

Percy may have not got a ball in the back of the net this time, but the lead up was shown by brilliant passing!

Second half and Eli was nothing but showing his top gear speed followed by a couple of great goals to complete his Hat-trick. Whilst bagging a brace Ollie got the ball in the roof of the net- great work!

Captain Cameron showed amazing goal saves throughout the game with great stretches to keep the opposition away and not forgetting Arlo showing a great goal attempt by striking the post!

An amazing game and a game to be super proud of. Well done to Jackson for earning the Player of the match today by showing nothing but calmness throughout whilst assuring great play at the back.

U8 Age Group

AFC Stoneham Pumas V Whiteley Panthers

The girls first game of the season and what a game it was. Did I see any nerves in the girls throughout the game not one but nothing but smiles and giggles!!

Whiteley Panthers gave it there all and certainly kept the girls on their feet but the Puma girls done nothing but shined through the whole 40 minutes!

Penny and Sofia have only trained with the girls once but shown great communications and dedication throughout and it was like they’ve been there from the start.

Captain Penny may have been full of cold but she done put on a great performance on pitch and in goal!

Ruby sure wasn’t shy getting in a tackle and was adamant to get the ball and get it away from their goal keeper.

Rounding the game off with nothing but positivity the player of the match went to Rosie for showing nothing but dedication and keeping positive when times got tough you truly deserved it this week Rosie so well done!

AFC Stoneham Scorpions V AFC Stoneham Sharks

Our very own Derby day for our two new U8 AFC stoneham boys

A fantastic day all round showing great passing whilst showing what they’ve learned throughout the training sessions!

Starting off his first ever game today Seb lead the way in goal showing some cracking saves along with his team mate Rafferty showing nothing but showing what a strong defender is!

Leading the way Jack made his first goal of the season whilst Leo worked his socks off running up and down that pitch todays

Any position needed or wanted Milo worked extremely hard alongside his team mates so well done Milo!!

Maksim performed fantastic crossing into the pitch for his team mates throughout the game making.

And a massive well done Alex bagging player of the match today after showing growth in his confidence!

AFC Stoneham Eagles V Crofton Saints Youth

What a performance today boys

Second game of the season and they only brought the win home! So well done!!

The start of the match was great especially when Marcus S joined the game and scored us a goal and changed the whole dynamic of the game making it a draw!

Whilst Crofton were nothing short of organisation on a physical perspective the Eagles done nothing but match that energy at any given turn!

The game may have changed for a short moment in the second half until Mitchell showed great thinking with an early throw, Junior was able to convert this with only a first touch into a volley leaving both teams “equal”

With Louis and George joining in the last 10 minutes nothing but positivity and looking for a win, Louis broke through after a moment of feeling like eternity to take that shot on 1V1 which resulted into him taking that winning point of the game and showing nothing but an ice cool attitude.

Special mention for Joshua today for taking position in goal and doing a fantastic job at it to whilst Milo kept himself and Joshua safe with his rock solid defence.

Overall, all the boys deserved the player of the match today due to showing great determination and desire to work together, showing a truly worthy performance!

Well done Eagles

U11 Age group

AFC Stoneham Sharks V Porchester Vikings

Superb game with fabulous conditions which was strongly followed with excellent attitudes from both teams!

Could there have been more goals made? Of course, but with both the teams taking the lead throughout this game.

Proud of this game is an understatement from the attitude through to the performance was superb for the results made but an excellent opposition!

Our special moments for todays game goes to our excellent goal keeper Charlie and Spencer who played a new position for centre back which resulted in him being the winner for the hero

Our captain Eesah held a great example for the team by keeping control of the back line whilst the player of the match was rewarded to Daniel who not only scored a goal but also assisted two or three goals for the Sharks. Not only did he give his team mates an assist for goals he also worked incredibly hard in defence creating new challenges for the opposition team all whilst staying persistent through out.

Well done team!

U11 AFC Stoneham girls Tigers

For the U’11’s our girl Tigers are one of the most recent foundation teams within the club & today was followed by their first ever game which was an away game! Were the nerves there? We’re let you take a guess..

Limited training, new faces the game plan was to get out there and enjoy every minute on the pitch this morning and if they could follow at least one or two things mentioned by the managers then even better, but if not there’s plenty of time!

The first quarter showed a couple of challenges but nothing the girl tigers couldn’t deal with. A few learning curves were given but expected. Resulting in some goals being made in these early stages the spirits stayed, whilst the second half resulted in a draw due to Lylah took this final result as a draw for an opening goal.

Ellie’s first match let alone first time in goal and what a great performance had by Ellie especially those saves.

Half times team talk was nothing but positive and simple form for the girls to stay and enjoy the game and reflect what they’ve learnt. Lylah added to her goal tally by having a hat trick whilst our last goal was done by Naya who has a slight advantage due to previous relations to her old team Pumas.

Even thought today wasn’t ended for what they wanted they made one another and all those supporting proud, especially as their first game with the team.

Player of the match for Sharks has been rewarded to Lylah for the 3 goals she managed to score this afternoon.

Naya only went and got the opposition player of the match by showing her determination to run the girls ragged and getting the ball in the net

AFC Stoneham Tigers girls you all deserved player of the match by showing what grassroots is exactly about in your first game!

JPL V Pompey

The boys may have not brought the win home, but it doesn’t mean it’s a loss it’s a lesson learnt.

Overall the game was good and no matter the result the score line won’t reflect the match had.

Did times gets a little tough 100% the league overall is competitive and will keep everyone in their toes whilst the football clubs are strengthening week by week and players coming from academy’s.

It’s early days with the season having only been started, but the team will keep showing up giving it their best and will soon iron out they will be fine!

Our stand out players for this game goes to Zack, Logan, Joe, Baden whilst player of the match goes to the well deserved Alan!

U13 Age Group

AFC Stoneham Spitfires V Meon Milton

A well deserved 4-2 win to bring home, shown by nothing short of grit, skill and excellent team work.

Meon kept the boys on their toes with bagging two goals in the net before half time. The boys could have easily allowed this to knock their confidence on the pitch and heads dropped.

Roll into the second half and the Spitfires showed all those there how dominant they can be on that pitch as a team they faced challenges but they battled through it giving everyone there a great game to watch.

The penalty spot was Alfie L’s favourite area to score his two goals from early on in this second half these goals brought both teams level with a draw

The amazing performance from spitfires sure raised a few frustrations on the pitch with fouls being which only made Spitfires become galvanised.

Break through when Bushy brought in another goal leading us a point up, with the finishing goal being made by Freddie who made the game nothing but safe making Spitfires finish with the 2-4 win

The one and only Freddie throughout the game showed his manager Jon relentless pressing and running at Meons defence which resulted in Freddie receiving player of the match

A massive well done to Spitfires, football won out in the end!

U14 Age Group

U14 AFC Stoneham United V Newbury

A fantastic performance made today by the united boys!

The result being 4-1 which flattered Newbury, but to give it to United for the better play being made throughout the game.

Boys you really deserve to be proud of yourself throughout this game, you picked yourself up with 2 early goals being made. The passion from you all today was amazing we just want to see it from the minute you hear that first whistle!

For a team that’s brand new, hardly know one another let alone their names whilst learning how each of them play, the overall points of

6/9 really isn’t something to be put down about.

Kian you deserved the player of the match today by showing great commanding of the middle of the pitch whilst playing some positive forward balls

Well done!

AFC Stoneham Athletic V BRS

BRS were hungry for the win from the moment they stepped foot on that pitch which caught Stoneham Athletic out early on leading to 4-1 up within half hour of play.

Come half time the boys could have lost all determination but from a great team talk followed by a tactical tweak, the Athletic team were back and back in full force and they weren’t there to mess around. SIX unanswered goals were made which brought the winning game home for the boys leaving them with a 7-4 win

Well done lads

U18 Age Group

AFC Stoneham Knights V Downtown.

Division 1 league for the U18’s Testway League the lads showed dominated possession within the first half of the game, there were a couple of close calls made in the first half to take the lead.

Come the start of the 2nd half and the lads continued to be a threat to the opposition not allowing the first half to take their spirit away from their game.

2 long range goals were made quickly in the 2nd half by Ewan & Blake who are incredible strikers & a great asset to the team!

The knights conceded a goal before Ben making the final score on 90 minutes before the final whistle went, allowing the Knights take the 3 points home

Josh our goalkeeper for the Knights truly deserved man of the match by being him outstanding self his overall positional play and reading of the game was superb. Josh mopped up a few threats he was faced with when he was caught out at the back but didn’t allow this to determine his outlook on the fame.

Overall your manager today lads is really really pleased with your performance & agrees you played a lovely match today!

Well done

Can’t wait to hear all about your games next week!
