Saturday 26th March round up

Saturday Round Up

U7 Spitfires

U7 Spitfires turned in their best performance of the season against a good Hamble team. Spitfires have been working hard on the training ground in the week and it was great to see them put it into practice on matchday. Spitfires were straight at it with a double from Donatello and Joey either side of a Hamble goal in the first quarter. The second quarter was uneventful with both teams cancelling each other with impressive defensive work by both sides and some great saves by the Hamble keeper. Half time tweaks to the team saw Donatello score a third quarter hatrick and it was all Spitfires again in the last quarter with Joey completing a deserved hatrick, Finley getting the pick of the goals with some unbelievable team passing before casually passing past the keeper and Donatello getting another. Very tough to give player of the match today as they all played so well but Archie stood out for being so composed at the back and a defensive rock took it

U7 Hurricanes

Hurricanes U7 had a tough game against Fawley Falcons Eagles. On a glorious Saturday in the sun it was Fawley who took an early lead in the second quarter, ending it two up going in to half time. But the Hurricanes channeled their disappointment and played an unbelieveable third quarter, scoring 4 goals, ending the third 4-2. A tight encounter in the final quarter but some great defending and positional play from the Hurricanes, we finished the game 5-3 winners.

The team continue to grow and they demonstrated great passing and structure today.

Top marks to Fawley, who are a great team and didnt make it easy for us.

Gosport Borough Whites Girls U10 1

AFC Stoneham Panthers U10 3

An excellent win for the Panthers on a rock hard, bumpy pitch.

After 2 goalless quarters, the Panthers took the lead in the 3rd quarter when Aimee scored her first goal for the club with a nice finish. Every girl in the squad has now scored this season!

Jess P scored two long range goals in the final quarter to give the Panthers a 3-0 lead before the hosts scored a consolation late on.

U11 Girls Pumas

Big well done to the girls late night, early kick off, rough pitch, first half tired sleepy lack lusted, not playing as a team, poor passes, hot potato football 1 nil down half time we had a gentle chat and told them to simply play football & work as a TEAM Help each other out.

We struggled to get onto the corners in the Danger Zone every time in the first half everyone flew by us, second half we rearranged how we did it not one corner was wasted we attacked it from the back of the box and it worked

Well done to Roxy for playing almost as a central midfield still needed you to help defend and you scored a cracking goal

Well done to Sophie my player of the match had a little moan she was playing out of position but switched it about and played simple football

Well done to Lauren always trying to give 100% and what a cracking free kick

we need to learn to mix it up, which is what we will do in training but was brilliant to watch we were commended on the way we passed the ball about how we pressed we were a class above in the second half Well done all

Big thanks to AFC portchester great hosts great bunch of girls and fantastic game

4-1 win

U13 girls match report

Away to AFC Portchester for the girls today.

A tough encounter with a loud home crowd and a physical opposition to match. We soaked up pressure really well and counter attacked with pace all game.

On 15 mins, Lillie Banks broke through on the left cut inside and struck a beauty in the near corner 0-1 Purps.

Then we got caught a little ball watching as Portchester managed to grab a goal with a nice finish into the bottom corner. 1-1.

Then put danger girl all game broke through again on the left and this time sent a brilliant finish over the GK into the far corner. 1-2 Purps at HT.

Second half much of the same, and then the moment of the game as Lillie this time playing right wing took on the left full back and smashed an incredible strike high over the GK into the top corner for 1-3 Purps.

We saw out the game until and unfortunate penalty right at the end for 2-3.

A great battling win to bounce back from defeat last time out.

AFC Portchester 2-3 AFC Stoneham

U14 Knights

U14 Knights playing up a year in the U15 Testway Div 2 lost 2-0 to Chalke Valkey away this morning

Although Stoneham were the better footballing side the boys couldn't find a way to get past the bus chalke parked for pretty much the entire game. Deserved more just couldn't break through their defence.

MOM goes to Oliver as was superb with his tackling and was excellent in breaking down their counter attacks.

Well done to all of our teams !
