Saturday Nov 12 round up

U7 Hurricanes

Great game today for the team brilliant battling through out, with some great passing and tackling on display, Lots of opportunities through out for the boys, overall a really good game, the boys all played superb. Parents player & Man of the match both went to Leo, who displayed great workrate, energy, tackling & footwork.

U7 Wolves

The Wolves came into today's match as relative underdogs against a very strong Wellow Youth side. Both sides observed two minutes silence with great respect. I was so impressed with the belief, bravery, energy and quality with and without the ball the lads showed today. Jacob and Louie were super disciplined defensively, but also showed their ability to take the opposition on and support the team going forward. Jack and Fyfe both covered the pitch end to end and really help us transition to attack whenever we won the ball. Ollie and Vinnie were a nightmare to defend against, twisting and turning and getting shots off. The game was extremely close for the most part with some great moments for Ollie, Louie and Jack (who has been practicing his golf swing!). We had the upper hand for much of the match but in the end the difference between the sides came down to energy levels and Wellow took the game away from us, but that doesn't in anyway dampen how absolutely proud the Wolves should be of themselves for that performance. Fan's MoM went to Louie, he put in a bulldozing shift and epitomised the whole team's display.

AFC STONEHAM TIGERS U7'S

The boys played well today against a good organised side, didn't get the result but can't fault their effort .It's good to see them developing. MOTM Theo

U9 Rovers

U9 Rovers were involved in an entertaining end to end game against Pompey In The Community.

After a impeccable minute silence observed by both teams the game started in a high tempo which continued until the final whistle. Some great goals scored by both teams and some amazing goalkeeping by David Trowbridge for the Rovers. Henry Hall struck a worldie for the Rovers and Jake Davies tapped in from close range but unfortunately was not enough today.

So proud of these boys and every week they put in so much effort and play like they have been together for years when in fact they are players from across 4 of our teams at this age.

POM went to Harry Kalogerias who was excellent in defence and so calm on the ball.

Well done boys.

U10 Pumas

The girls were excited for today, first time on a new pitch. The improvements over the last few weeks and the fact they were playing another newly formed team, along with the fact they had the first opportunity to play the pitch set them off on the right foot from the start. Seen in straight after the 1 min silence so well observed by teams and fans:

Skylilly in goal didn't have a lot to do, but had safe hands when called upon

Emily, lottie and Sarah in defence were strong and kept out the Grange Down attack and helped move us forward

Naya decided to play like messi from the centre of midfield

Mia and zoe were powerhouses left and right, with Zoe picking up her first 2 goals.

Daisy was strong as a forward for her goal and Ella came on and showed fantastic positional play and was unlucky not to walk away with 2

The girls tired at the end, and despite a late goal held for a 3-1 win. Their first as a team, and the first on the new Stoneham pitch. Amazing pumas!

U11 Lionesses

An amazing performance today saw the U11 Lionesses take a well earned victory today, we could be in need of some new socks as the girls worked tirelessly for each other and im sure burnt holes in them

It takes us to 3 wins from 3 games and I for one could not be any prouder of the effort and commitment they showed today as a team.

Sophia with a great goal to take the lead and Florence to confirm the victory with her first goal of the season.

Big shout out for April who received Managers Player of the Game for yet another fantastic performance!

AFC Stoneham Girls Panthers U11 4-1 Petersfield Town Whirlwinds

Playing a team unbeaten from the division below with no substitutes was always going to be difficult but the Panthers got off to the perfect start when Jess P opened the scoring in the first few minutes.

The game was end to end with Ilyse and Emily both making last ditch tackles before Lyra gave the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

Petersfield pulled a goal back after a long range shot came back off the crossbar and was brilliantly put into the top corner by Georgia. Unfortunately at the wrong end!

Both Abigail and the opposition keeper made saves before half time and the score remained 2-1.

After the break, it became a bit of a midfield battle with Georgia, Jess P, Aimee and Lyra all working hard. Victoria dropped back into defence to help stop the opposition attacking quickly on the break.

Jess H gave the Panthers a bit of breathing space by making the score 3-1 before a run and cross by Lyra was touched home for an own goal and 4-1.

U18 Girls Scorpions

A very competitive game v Romsey.

They held us for first 10-15 minutes, but then some fantastic one touch passing split the Romsey defence.

Great team effort from the whole team. Some great debut appearances from new girls. Man of the match going to new signing Phoebe Rogers. With no regular keeper we had 2 great shifts in goal from Hannah and Katie.

Goals from Katie Babahami, a sweet header from a corner from Victoria Johnson, 2 goals Mia Garwin, 2 from Hannah Webb

Well done on some great performances !
