Sunday Round Up

U8 Panthers

Panthers U8 Report What a game to finish the year off with, against our wolves team, both teams played well but we never looked like losing after the 2nd period. Our evergy, determination and drive was too much for them. David was again brilliant in goal, with some fine saves and good kicking out. Oliver and James defended brilliantly with some good passing out from the back. Ollie and Harry were both in fine form, tackling and passing the ball and both of them scored. Henry, bossed the midfield, with some crunching tackles and powerful shots, and got got the scoresheet twice. Jenson was all over the pitch today, bagged himself a hat trick and was tackling when needed, especially with the last ditch tackle against their player, But my man of the match went to Lucas today, even though he didn’t score, his all round football was a pleasure to watch, tackling, passing through, shooting and moment was excellent today. Well done Lucas, well done all of you today, one proud manager. Final score 8-3 win.

U8 Spitfires

U8 Spitfires ended the year against Bursledon Stars and played some excellent football. Dominated possession and scored 2 great team goals. Elliott Finch & Zach Curtis scoring the goals. Superb performances by all the boys and a great end to the year. POM went to Zach Curtis got great defending and a well taken goal.

U10 Royals

U10 Royals had an amazing game to end off the year.

Through implementing the work from training, the royals didn’t allow the opposition to have a proper shot on goal and caused their defence nothing but trouble and scored plenty of goals, including a hat trick from Nate and a wonder goal from Jake, who took a fantastic touch, turned past a defender and lashed the ball top bins!

Purp of the match was a very difficult choice, with 10/10 performances from everyone on that pitch but it went to Jake today for his goal. Special mentions go to Marcus and Noah for their incredible team play and plenty of assists between them.

U10 Spitfires

A strong team performance today from the Under 10 Spitfires with a hat trick from man of the match Bushy, and also a goal from Freds. The boys played some great football, passing it around well and having several chances being saved or hitting the bar. Wishing everyone at the club a wonderful Christmas.

U10 Wolves

U10 Wolves report:

We almost saw a Christmas thriller as the Wolves were swarmed into first half submission by the Warsash Wasps, before providing a sting of their own to win an end-to-end second half.

It was a slow start with players not keeping to roles or positions. Dominik gave us reason to cheer with some good saves in his first game as goalkeeper before the boys did finally settle, although there was a second half mountain to climb that was very nearly scaled.

It was time for more width and more running, and with this came more spirit and flair. Fuku was excellent as he began to dominate the left side, first scoring himself then setting up Oskar P for his much deserved first goal of the season (although he still claims an earlier one as well). Then it was Adam, now charging down the right, who finished well to score our third before Fuku cut inside and shot with composure for his second and the Wolves' fourth.

Special mention to Dash who produced the defensive moment of the game, chasing back from half-way to reach then tackle their excellent centre forward as he was about to shoot, before bringing the ball calmly out of defence. His speed and skills are always a joy to watch but his additional passion and determination today in the face of some adversity makes Dash our Wolf of the Week.

Well done everyone on a gutsy second half and nearly an amazing comeback.

U11 Lions

Really good performances today in spite of the result, a good fight to end 2021 from the Lions.

Man of the match goes to Olly for his brilliant performance. Positives definitely to be taken today, but first a well deserved break for the team. Bring On 2022, Up The Lions!

Totton and Eling Allstars v AFC Stoneham Spitfires U13.

We arrived for our top of the table clash against Totton, with only a bare 11 players. It was a closely contested first half with chances at both ends. Sadly, a minute before half time Logan received an injury and was unable to play any further part in the game. 0-0 half time and we were down to 10 men. The second half proved how deep the boys can dig when under pressure. The whole team were awesome , defending wave after wave of attacks. Unfortunately we conceded in the 68th minute losing 1-0. This was sadly the last game for Sean Light as he moves on to a new challenge. Sean and his family will be greatly missed.

U14 Wolves

Much better performance from the boys today another very hard thought Derby day but same result.

Boys battled hard and had to handle multiple moments of pressure throughout the game. Boys took the lead from a great back post header from George B before Panthers equalised in second half. Both goalies pulled out some fantastic saves today a cracking shot from Alfie p saw a fine save from Panthers. Game continued to be end to end before Kyle sneaked a late goal in to finish a great move. George E continued to pull of some good saves before deep in deeper injury time we unfortunately conceded again.

Game finished 2-2

U14 Panthers match report

U14 Panthers played out a tight 2-2 draw vs the Wolves. The boys went behind in the first half, and despite missing a number of opportunities came in 1-0 down. During the second half Will Hosmer equalised before the wolves added a second. Will scored however scored again to level up the scores. The players voted Kunashe Musonza as man of the match. Managers man of the match was the excellent Thomas Cole. A huge thank you also to Fin Morgan for keeping goal in the second half.

U13 Panthers

AFC Stoneham Panthers U13. 3

Romsey Town Cougars U13. 2

3 league wins in a row, so really pleased with how the boys have worked over the last few weeks.

Romsey took the lead on 8 mins from a corner. We then pulled the game level on 16 mins from a throw-in through to David who took on a couple of players before smashing it in the top right corner. Great goal! Romsey took the lead again on 33 mins with a break down the left to make it 1-2 at half-time.

We were awarded a penalty for handball on 43 mins which was saved by the goalie but nicely followed up by Karlos to make it 2-2. The game then descended into a bit of a scrappy affair but the boys kept going and we were awarded another penalty with 2 mins to go when David broke down the left and was fouled through on goal. David calmly stepped up to take it with a controlled placement into the bottom right-hand corner to win the game 3-2!

We've played better this season and not come away with anything so it was great to pocket the three points and another win. Well battled today boys.

U14 Knights

An injury & illness depleted U14 Knights lost at home 3-4 to Salisbury. Goals were from Sam B, Ben and Adrian.

MOM was Will. Exemplary performance from a player that wouldn't give up and continually wanted more from everyone in the team. Deserved more today but have to swallow the loss and move on.

U15 Spitfires

Spitfires ended the year at home to Netley Royals and spent majority of the 1st half defending but the boys defended so well which was topped off by a penalty save from Braydon Morgan. 2nd half the boys offered more threat going forward and Harry Cull put the boys ahead with a sweet strike. Game then turned into a defending master class and looked like the win was ours but in the space of 2 mins went from being 1 up to 2-1 down and this being in the last few mins. Gutted for the boys as deserved more. POM went to Braydon Morgan who was outstanding in goal with not only his penalty save but 3 excellent saves at 1 nil keeping the boys ahead.

U10 Panthers

AFC Stoneham Panthers 4

Romsey Town Lionesses 0

The Panthers last game of the year was arranged by the league against a team from the league above to assess the level of both teams.

The Panthers played some of their best football of the season and ended up comfortable 4-0 winners thanks to a hat trick from Jessica H and a lovely top corner finish from Jessica P.

Away team POM - Georgia

Parents POM - Georgia

Managers POM - Emily

The girls then had their Xmas party at Ninja Warrior. They’ve come so far from three players at the start of August to the team they are now!

U11 Girls Tornadoes

AFC Stoneham Tornadoes 6

Whiteley 0

An excellent performance by the Tornadoes this morning away to a Whiteley squad.

Tornadoes dominated both halves and created their own opportunities with no luck given to them and fought for every chance they made.

We had three further chances by way of alledged offside and a further disallowed penalty due to a blatant foul so the score line could have been higher but a pre Christmas win keeps the girls motivated over the festive period!

U11 Girls Pumas

Stubbington 4 - 5 Pumas

What a great way to sign off 2021, with a hard fought win away to 3rd place Stubbington. They are always tough opposition and today the girls dug in, battled, and the game was decided by a few moments of genuine quality in the final third. It’s important to say we won despite missing 2 talented players today.

The opposition managers were effusive in their praise ‘your girls go from strength to strength’ and ‘technically your players are another level, some of them should play for academies’. I’m sure one day they will!

It’s been a disruptive year but John, Waca and Nick have held the team together, and we’ve finished up joint top, with players developing both technically and tactically. Admittedly, we’ve lost some coaching attributes but we’ve gained others, and i think that means that when the girls are confronted with a challenge now, they just dig deep. Bravo

Layla N, you’ve been the busiest keeper we’ve ever had, and you’ve stepped into the team brilliantly.

At the back, Sophie started slowly but made vital tackles in the last 10 minutes, it could’ve been 5-5. Believe in yourself, limitless potential.

Roxy, still on the mend but showed her usual tenacity in the tackle.

Abbi J. What A Performance. Absolutely exploded as a player in the last month or so, quality of passing, bravery on the ball, great decision making. Vital today.

Phoebe. Roy Keane-esque performance. You

don’t win tough away games like that without players who are willing to put it all on the line. Real rock today at CDM.

Nancy. Your ability to deliver performances like that at the moment are a testament to your mental strength. Driving midfield display, one of the best I’ve seen from any player, wonderful range of passing and a vital goal . Managers Player , your mum will be very proud

Lauren. Played centrally today, gave us heart and fight in the middle, and recognised by the Opposition Always looked to create and showed some great awareness defensively.

Martha. Up against their strong RM you gave us stability and shape and never gave up.

Aaliyah. The only player who could compete with their No 7 for pace. Really dynamic performance on the wing, you were a threat and one of the few players who won their 1v1 when attacking

Erin. You don’t half moan when you don’t get the ball but when you had it, you made things happen. Scored from the edge of the box and the corners were on point today.

Abbie. Scored twice, played 5 different positions and was influential in all. Training on Monday was one of the best training displays I’ve seen, carried that into the game and I was stood right behind your top bins finish for the 2nd. Enjoyed watching that fly in

2021 has been a bit up and down for us all but the one thing that doesn’t change is the commitment and quality of our daughters performances on the pitch.

I’ve seen some magical moments and look forward to what the NY will bring. Enjoy your success Pumas but remember ‘hard work beats talent when talent doesn’t work hard’ so make sure you get the football out over Christmas

U13 girls report

Long drive away at Bognor Regis.

A game we dominated from start to finish however there were times we needed our ever reliable goalkeeper, Flo, to step up and she did with some high quality saves.

We came in 1-1 at HT with an opening goal from Grace Davie.

Grace Davie then scored again for 1-2. Hetti Webb scored a cracker from 25 yards for 1-3 and then Cherice Johnson topped it off with a nice turn and finish from 18 yards.

FT Bognor Regis 1-4 AFC Stoneham

A convincing win to finish 2021 on an 8 game unbeaten run. These girls are improving every game and we are up to 3rd in the league!!

Purps U14 girls Lionesses 2

Eastleigh ITC 2

A game reminiscent of my school report, ie 'could do better & doesn't work hard enough' just about sums up the Purps performance today. Most of the team appearing to be in self isolation for long periods of time.

A scrappy game throughout, played to Eastleighs strengths, and they deserved to be 1 up at half time.

The Purps started the 2nd half better, and a Chloe assist set up Amy to equalise after holding off defenders well. Then, as if by magic, the Purps reverted back to the 1st half performance, letting Eastleigh bully them around, and within 2 mins the Purps were behind again. A well taken goal by Essex with 10mins to go felt like a robbery and more than we deserved (but we'll take the point)

A couple of girls stood out, Annabel was tireless in midfield, and Brewer was excellent at the back, constantly in the right place at the right time.

So the year ends with another draw, but it won't take much to turn these games around into wins.

Happy Christmas everyone

COYP

Well done to all of our girls teams !!

Saturday Round Up

AFC Stoneham U10 Girls Panthers 1 City Ladies Rubies 2

It appears under 10 girls and strong winds and freezing temperatures don’t mix. The girls really struggled with the conditions playing into the strong wind for the first half but took the lead through a fine solo goal from Mirela.

Despite having the better chances, City Ladies Rubies scored twice to take the lead, which they held on to thanks to some very good saves from their keeper.

The two teams meet again in the quarter final of the Plate.

AFC Stoneham U11 Girls

Tornadoes 4 Down Grange 1

What a morning! The wind chill was Baltic and we also had snow at the end, thank goodness and not during the game..!

Great experience for the girls to play on actual grass in that weather - sometimes we’re a little spoilt with 3G…proper grass roots football today!

Luckily we had a squad - a bare 9 today due to various reasons against a whole village ! The opponents had circa 16 players - Almost enough for two teams and plenty of fresh legs…

Our girls fitness and ability held the game today…

Realistically without taking anything away from Down Grange we should have won 25-0…We eventually lost count of opportunities where we could have finished however their keeper had a phenomenal game and really kept them in it…Her reactions, positioning and ability to read the shots is something that you just can’t teach…only enhance and get better…rightly so, our girls nominated her player of the day.

Millie Fear had a great game today scoring all 4 goals for us…that said opportunities were taken by several other players…just not enough oomph to put the ball in the back of the net.

All of the girls put a shift in today, no subs, they ran their hearts out….hence why we’ve been increasing the CV training on Thursdays by way of ‘mainly’ game scenarios to keep them engaged…As the girls are getting older and playing in a higher ability league against higher ability opponents they become harder to play against so we need to increase what we’re doing also to keep up and get ahead…

Potd: Selena great work and energy

U11 boys JPL v Portsmouth

The under 11s had a tough game today against Pompey in the Community in the JPL. An even first quarter where both teams squandered chances, ended with Pompey 1-0 up after a lapse in defence allowed them a free run at goal. The second quarter continued in the same vain, before a penalty made it 2-0 to Pompey. At this point, our boys came alive and a lovely assist from Jacob allowed Fin to score. 2-1.

Next some excellent play out wide and a whipped in cross allowed Tyler to smash one home. 2-2

An unlucky own goal made it 3-2 to Pompey before Josh stepped up and delivered a worldly free kick to bring things level again. 3-3.

In to the second half and a great counter attack sent Ablaye on his way to score for us. 4-3.

Both teams creating chances to score and in to the final quarter it was Pompey who took advantage of a wayward clearance to equalise 4-4.

The snow started and the wind picked up but that wouldn’t deter us, as another counter attack set Jacob on his way, who calmly rounded the keeper and kept his composure to slot home. 5-4.

Another devastating counter attack from us set Jacob on his way again who finished on the half volley, beating the oncoming keeper to make the final score 6-4.

What a game, what a result. Well done U11s.

U13 Girls match report

Home to 100% record top of the league Netley at a wet, bitterly cold, and windy Stoneham.

The weather made for a scrappy first half with the two teams cancelling each other out. Not many chances to report and defences on top.

Second half was similar but we started really strongly, then conceded an unfortunate goal, the defence a bit static the ball heading towards goal and it bounced off the post hit our defender and dribbled over the line… agonising! 0-1.

We kept the pressure on but struggled to create the clear cut chances against a strong and quick defence… until a shot from outside the box from Cherice Johnson went under the Netley GK and into the net!! The crowd went crazy wild and it was no less than the girls deserved. From that moment we grew in confidence and had the better of it but couldn’t find the winner.

FT AFC Stoneham 1-1 Netley Royals

5 games without defeat now for the girls!!

U14 Girls

Winchester Kites U14 Girls 2

AFC Stoneham Lionesses

U14 Girls 2

Another superb performance from all the girls today in Arctic like conditions, against top of the division Winchester Kites.

After a dominant first 25 mins playing uphill, against a gale force wind, Stoneham somehow found themselves a goal behind. To say this was against the run of play would certainly be an understatement, and it deflated the girls confidence for the rest of the half. To their credit though they came out 2nd half firing on all cylinders, once again playing the opposition off the pitch. Annabels

equaliser surely has to be goal of the season, and was followed up by more excellent play resulting in a 'determined' Emily Essex goal.

Quite how the Kites scored their equaliser with the last kick of the game, is still beyond me, and quite possibly the opposition.

An excellent game to watch, with attractive football being played by both teams, just a pity it was the wrong result.

So many deserve a special mention today, Angel & Annabel bossed the game in centre mid, Essex and Emily Harryman look to be a good partnership up front, Saoirse who quietly goes about her game week in week out. Finally Tia in her first game for the Purps.

Bring on the game against Pompey next week!

CoyP

U16 Girls

Another great team performance v Romsey from U16 Scorpions in awful conditions.

Another 2 goals from Mia Garwin, 1 from Julia Walczak, assists from Katie Babahami and 2 from Hannah Webb

Well done to all of our teams

Sunday Round Up

AFC Stoneham U8

Wow, What a game today. We were a man down with Henry being ill, but that didn’t stop us producing one of the best passing performances of the season. I told the boys to work hard as a team and they didn’t disappoint. Their passing, moment, and decision making was brilliant today. David produced some excellent saves and rushing out to keep a clean sheet. James and Oliver were as ever solid at the back and Oliver even got on the score sheet. Ollie and Lucas was excellent in midfield and breaking down their attacks. Jenson ‘the Goat’ was again on target with a hat-trick, but what pleased me most was his unselfish passing in front of goal. But my man of the match today went to Harry aka ‘little messi’ his footwork, passing and movement on and off the ball was a pleasure to watch, and also bagged himself a hat-trick. Well done Harry. Well done all of you. You all deserved the award today, very proud of you all.

AFC Stoneham U8 Spitfires

U8 Spitfires came up against our very own Wolves in a great game. Standard slow start by the Spitfires found us behind in the 1st quarter giving us an uphill battle. Created numerous chances but just would not go in were as Wolves took their chances so credit to them. Brody Hibberd and Henry Polkinghorne then found the back of net and Spitfires were back in the game winning the final 2 quarters but just ran out of time. Credit to Wolves and a good game played by both teams. POM went to Theo Yaldren who was full of energy and almost got himself a goal but was also excellent defending.

AFC Stoneham U8 Hurricanes

Today was Derby Day, the Hurricanes lined up against the Stoneham Lions...

The match had everything and was exciting to watch. The Hurricanes started on the front foot and dominated most of the possession in the right areas, fortunately the hard work paid off with a great individual goal from Jesse. The boys continued to amount the pressure in the next quater with a very defensive minded player scoring his first ever goal for the club 'Well done Sam!' .

The second half was a different game all together. The Lions came out strong and scored a few quick goals. The play was then end to end with both teams getting opportunities to take the win, but unfortunately for us it was the Lions who broke the deadlock . Well done Lions, a great game from all involved. Up the purps!

U9 Royals

The Royals carried on their good form with another great team performance vs Rodaway Rovers. Lucas started off the scoring with 2 goals including a goal of the season contender from nowhere! Nathaniel also scored tapping in at the back post. Special mention to Archer who saved one out of the top corner in the last minute from a freekick. MOTM today went to Oakley who was excellent in defence and midfield especially helping the team to play out from the back

U9 Panthers

U9 Panthers had a great game today, more than proving their worth following their recent promotion to the top division. After a shaky start we got in to our stride and goals from Antek and Jack, coupled with an excellent display across all positions, ensured we gave the opposition a really good game today. Players of the day were Harry, who is playing up a year and doesn’t look out of place after a really assured performance on the left side of midfield, and Charlie who has really started to excel in his preferred central midfield role, setting up countless attacks and being a pivotal player on the pitch. Well done Panthers

U10 Jaguars

v Hedge End Rangers.

It was a great start for the Jags first appearance since being promoted up the divisions.

After a quiet start (worried about new division) on a cold morning and with leaf covered pitch the Jags slowly grew into the game. With 3 players away this weekend the team rose to the challenge of playing in some unfamiliar positions.

A brace from Egit in the first half with a goal in reply from Hedge End saw the Jags go into the half time interval with a slender lead despite swandering lots of chances if front of goal.

A closer run second half saw the teams both adding one goal each to see the Jags running out winners in a great well fought encounter.

Onwards and upwards go purps.

MoM Charlie

Coaches player of the week Sammie

U10 Wolves

Every game of football asks questions of its players and today's were around opportunity and desire.

With none of the four main goal scorers playing, today gave an opportunity for others to impress. Midfielders Jude, Noah and Charlie are quickly learning their individual roles but made big strides today in learning the importance of teamwork and communication. But it was lone attacker Oskar P who really grabbed that opportunity and gave his best performance of the season so far. Linking with his midfield and working hard on his positioning, he often drove the play forward leading to goal scoring chances and Oskar himself having shots on target.

Further back, the defenders were being given a stern test by Whiteley Wanderers Hurricanes. After the unluckiest of first quarters and with 4 goals conceded in the first 20 minutes, many teams would then have been blown away! Could we still show desire? We certainly did, conceding just one more goal in the final 40 minutes helped by goalkeeper Reuben who made yet another finger-tip save and who came off his line well whenever needed.

Every single player showed great play at times, but Wolf of the Week, for grabbing that opportunity to really show what he can do, is Oskar P.

U10 Spitfires

A great team performance by the Under 10 spitfires today. A dominant first quarter saw the boys go one nil up with a goal from James. The pressure continued in the remaining quarters but several chances were missed and in the end a defender’s clearance lofted over Charlie’s head for a 2-1 loss. The boys were gutted at the end but should hold their heads up high for continuing to play football. MOM was Zack for his great play out wide.

U11 Knights

A chilly day for our home match welcoming Fawley Falcons to Stoneham Lane.

Another great performance today, the players are really starting to gel now, learn their positions and understand what we are trying to do on the pitch.

Solid defensively, hard working in midfield and clinical upfront, we passed the ball nicely and tried to play football. We are trying to be brave when in possession and to move the ball the ball quickly with confidence. When defending, we are getting back in numbers with everyone willing to run that extra yard.

Goals from Charlie Px3, Tom Sx2, Noah, Josh, Taylor, Charlie S.

Players of the day got to -

Conner for an excellent passing display and for working so hard both in midfield and on the right.

Tom for 2 quality finishes, being brave on the ball and for showing great skill.

Well done everyone!

Up the Knights!

U11 Jaguars

A well earned draw for the Jags today with some tough battles and an excellent defensive display. The game started with two quick fire goals, one from Freddie and one from Elliot both assisted by Owen who started today’s game in an unfamiliar centre midfield position however filled the spot superbly! John started the game in a centre forward role playing some lovely through balls in with some great battles in the middle of the park won him the man of the match performance! Defensively we were unlucky with both goals, however some great spells of play throughout the game against a well organised opposition. Fin made a crucial save late on in the game to keep us in it. Great performance by all the lads! #upthejags #upthepurps

U12 Spitfires

U12 Spitfires played away to Southbrook Jets in a very entertaining game which ended 6-6. Southbrook took the lead but then a wonder strike from Oliver Drew got the boys level with Harry Halligan & Makail Field scoring to put the Spitfires 3-1 up. A dubious goal pulled 1 back for Southbrook but then Harry Halligan scored his 2nd and Spitfires 4th taking a 4-2 lead into half time. A slow start to the 2nd half and a couple of mistakes found us 5-4 behind but the boys dug in and a wonderful strike from Harley Marjason got us back level @ 5-5. Southbrook then took the lead again but with the last kick of the game Harry Halligan got his hat-trick smashing home from 5 yards after a save from their GK from a great header by Seth Price. So proud of these boys’ spirit today fighting back when up against it and their never say die attitude. Well done Spitfires.

U12 Panthers

Under 12 Panthers got back to winning ways in a hard fought derby game against a much improved.

We ran out 4-1 winners with goals courtesy of a Jake hatrick and a well deserved goal from Isaac that he more than deserved for the effort put in today.

We were back playing as we had earlier in the season and need to ensure we carry that momentum forward into our upcoming games.

Man of the match went to Jake today but well done to all the boys

U13 Panthers

AFC Stoneham Panthers U13. 3

Fawley Falcon Jets U13 2

Fantastic performances all round today. The boys really turned it up a level. Fawley were unbeaten this season and we were unlucky to find ourselves 0-2 down from two penalties in the 1st half and first minute of the 2nd half.

The boys kept going and we were rewarded when Jude scored from a Karlos assist on 50 mins to bring us back into the game. Then Karlos scored from a saved Jude shot on 56 mins to make the game level. Jude then got his 2nd and the winner from a Jacob assist with 5 mins to go - amazing!

There were outstanding performances everywhere today.

Great game boys! Really proud of you all!

U13 Spitfires

FC Salisbury V AFC Stoneham Spitfires U13

The Spitfires were slow to warm up this morning. We had plenty of chances to score and came in half time 0-1 up (OG). Our defence were solid and never looked vulnerable. The boys got into the groove in the second half and played some lovely football. We went on to win 0-4 . Our scorers were Alfie Surmon , on his debut for the Spitfires, Logan Mcewan, Sean Light and an own goal.

U14 Knights

U14 Knights beat Romsey 1-0 at home this afternoon in the Tyro Div 1. The only goal in the match was a penalty taken by Elliot on 65 minutes.

Scrappy game but Stoneham had the majority of chances. Some brave saves from the opposition GK which kept us at bay until the penalty opportunity.

MOM Kenz for steping in between the posts at very short notice, being a calm presence and keeping a clean sheet.

U14 Royals

The Royals started slowly today and quickly saw themselves 1-0 down against a physically strong Totton team. Some well executed passes and a good finish saw the Royals 2-0 down at half time.

The break gave the team a chance to regroup, they came out with a different mindset and found themselves competing and creating opportunities. A worldly from outside of the box from Isaac Buchan closed the gap. The Royals had fought their way back into the game and had spells of being on top. Unfortunately after a great save, a deflection off of our player gave Totton the win at 3-1.

Super proud of all of the team today, they dug deep and didn’t give up.

MOM went to Greg Rolinson, Greg made some great saves today and kept the Royals in the game on several occasions, not bad for a stand in GK.

U14 Wolves

After our unlucky result last weekend losing 1 nil to top of the league, we hosted 2nd this weekend and unfortunately found ourselves again just on the wrong side of the result, despite boys playing some fantastic football the luck just stayed against us. Boys created many chances and defended super just caught out on a moment of lack of concentration, boys battled hard in first half and was unlucky not to break the deadlock. Second half started and was very end to end until before we knew it a long ball over the top saw our opponents take the lead, boys Continued to work hard before a lapse of concentration saw us concede again.

Boys Continued to battle and clawed 1 back but unfortunately just a consolation as final whistle went game over.

1-2

Motm went to Henry and max for some great football and good movements off the ball

U15 United

AFC Stoneham United U15s played at Oakley today in the PHYL. We had a limited squad due to recent injuries but that didn’t stop the boys digging in and working hard, after going 2 goals down a very resilient United dug in to run out 3-2 winners. All three goals were scored by Ali Nazari.

Brockenhurst 1 AFC Stoneham 1 - Match report

Brockenhurst 1-1 AFC Stoneham

AFC Stoneham were held to a 1-1 draw on Saturday afternoon as Brockenhurst managed to snatch a late goal to deny AFC Stoneham the 3 points. James Phillips makes one change from Tuesday’s game against Bashley as Scott Hills comes in and replaces Diego Romero.

AFC Stoneham kick off for the first half, and come straight under pressure from Brockenhurst in the opening minutes of the game. Brockenhurst register the first attack at goal when Kieran O’Donnell, from 30 yards out- has a shot at goal but it’s well over the crossbar and results in a goal-kick. 11 minutes in Brockenhurst have the ball in the back of the net curtesy of Christie Ward but the linesman flag is up and is ruled out for offside.

With all the pressure from Brockenhurst, AFC Stoneham managed to win a penalty 35 yards out from goal. Jim Orvis plays a great ball into the box; Wiseman rises and meets the ball and headers it back and Scott Hills meets and hits it into the back of the net 1-0 to Stoneham on their first attack on goal. Stoneham in quick succession from the goal register another attack on goal when Ryan Penny shoots at goal from the edge of the box but it’s well wide and goes out for a goal kick.

With some of the pressure from the quick counter attacks from Stoneham, Brockenhurst find their rhythm again have a chance of levelling the score-line. When Kieran O’Donnell plays a great ball into the box where Christie Ward shoots but Tom Parker-Trott makes the save but the ball goes back into play and Jack Smith hits the rebound ball but Parker-Trott makes another great save and it goes out for a corner. Stoneham win another free kick in which Ben Clarke takes, he plays a ball into the box Cal Laycock meets the ball and lays it off to Duarte Martins who shoots but James Mayo saves.

HALF TIME – Brockenhurst 0-1 AFC Stoneham

AFC Stoneham start the second half brightly and are putting the pressure on hard for Brockenhurst as they have a few chances at goal but are ruled out for offside. Brockenhurst make the first change of the game in 52nd minute when Ronan Moore comes off and Joe Chamberlain comes on. Scott Hills finds himself in space on the edge of the box and half volleys the ball at the goal it causes some trouble for the keeper as he comes out to make the save. Brockenhurst make another 2 changes with AFC Stoneham making their first, for Stoneham we see Duarte Martins come off and replaced by Diego Romero. For Brockenhurst Lyle Simpson and Seung Woo-Yang make way for Matt Sheedy and Mitch Speechley-Price.

Another chance for AFC Stoneham when Jim Orvis plays the ball to Cal Laycock who shoots but there isnt another power behind the shot and it’s a comfortably save for the keep. Stoneham second change of the afternoon sees Ryan Penny off and Jake Thomson on. Quickly after the substitution AFC Stoneham nearly make it 2-0 when Cal Laycock has another shot at goal but again the keeper makes a decent save. AFC Stoneham make their third and final change 74 minutes in when Nathan Clements comes on and Scott Hills comes off.

Brockenhurst up their attack as a goal mouth scramble nearly results in a leveller for Brockenhurst but the AFC Stoneham defenders do well and clear the danger away. However, Brockenhurst go down to 10 men for the final 10 minutes of the game when Joe Chamberlain is sinbinned for dissent. Final few minutes of the game it looked like AFC Stoneham were going to be leaving with the 3 points but in the 89th minute Alex Haynes finds himself in space on the edge of the box and shoots and the ball goes into the back of the net, heartbreak for AFC Stoneham as they played really well in the second half.

Line-up for AFC Stoneham:-

First team

Our ladies bounced back from last weeks FA Cup exit with a very good away point at top of the table AFC Bournemouth having been 2-0 down at half time. We were almost back to our best this week with quality of football both in and out of possession and working hard in the transitions.

Great Oaks School - Southampton

AFC Stoneham are proud and delighted to have been able to support Great Oaks School this year as one of our AFC Stoneham in the Community projects which supports local groups using the power of football to achieve this.

Our great coach Aaron who teaches the children said “these guys getting their first taste of being part of a football team has filled me with immense pride! Lots of goals, an incredible penalty save, and some great teamwork on display! The boys and girl were a credit to their school, and played their hearts out. Special thanks to AFC Stoneham who have supported the school through lunchtime clubs and providing kit for them. Memories these kids will cherish for a long time!

AFC Stoneham are proud to have partnered with Great Oaks School and look forward to supporting the children in giving them more experience of the “beautiful game” .

AFC Stoneham 2 Bournemouth FC 1 - 13/11/21

AFC Stoneham vs Bournemouth Poppies

AFC Stoneham continue there unbeaten run with a 2-1 win against Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday afternoon. The win extends there unbeaten reign by 8 wins on the bounce and pushes them up to 5th in the league.

Before kick off both teams and supporters came together and payed their respects for remembrance day with a minutes silence and the laying of the wreath. AFC Stoneham started us off for the afternoon from kick off –but Bournemouth where the first out of the two teams to have a chance at goal. A free kick which Marcus Cullen takes, it meets the head of the defender and Tom Parker-Trott makes the save. AFC Stoneham had themselves some great chances too when Diego Romero finds some space and shoots but his shot is well over the crossbar and is out for a goal kick.

It didn’t take long for AFC Stoneham to find the opener, it took eight minutes for them to do so. Diego Romero plays the ball through but the defender picks up the short pass and clears the ball however the clearance was too short as it falls to the feet of Cal Laycock who plays, a quick pass which meets Jake Thomson at the back post and he  taps it in to the net making it 1-0 to Stoneham. Again AFC Stoneham have a  chance to make it 2-0 when Ryan Penny has a shot from the edge of the box but it goes wide of the post and out for a goal kick.

AFC Stoneham had to wait just 11 minutes to add the scoreline again when Diego collects the ball from the Bournemouth half, he makes quick work of dribbling past the Bournemouth players before playing a perfect ball through on goal to Cal Laycock whois first to it and puts the ball into the back of the net making it 2-0 after 19 minutes. AFC Stoneham up the energy levels as well as the intensity and could have a few more goals before the break but Bournemouth hold on under the pressure and welcome the half time whistle.

HALF TIME - AFC Stoneham 2-0 Bournemouth Poppies

Bournemouth kick us off for the second half and once again put under pressure by Stoneham who have chances to make it 3-0when Tommy Barnes plays a great ball over to the right hand side to Diego who dribbles through Bournemouths midfield and passes to Cal who shoots but his shot hits the crossbar. Stoneham make there first substitution of the evening with Jake Thomson making way for Scott Hills. Scott Hills makes a quick impression with just being subbed on when he plays a perfect ball into the box in which Jim Orvis meets but his header just lacks the power behind it as Harry Gravett catches and clears the danger for Bournemouth.

Bournemouth make there first substitution as well with Sami Garcia coming off and Elliot Hartnell Baker coming on. Bournemouth have there first real chance of the second half when Conor Jevon finds himself in some space and shoots but his shot is well over the crossbar and doesn’t cause Tom in goal any trouble. A second change for both sides is made with AFC Stoneham taking Cal Laycock off and Nathan Clements on and for Bournemouth Lee-Brad Hansel off and Jonny Efedje on. Bournemouth have another good attack at goal when Lewis Chamber puts a great ball into the box but Ronan Galloway is the quickest to the ball headers it out for a corner. AFC Stoneham make there third and final change for the afternoon where Diego Romero comes off for Duarte Martins.

The pressure pays off for Bournemouth in the end as in the 82nd minute they are awarded a penalty after a slightly misjudged tackle, Tyrone Carkett scores and Bournemouth are back in the game 2-1. Bournemouth are quick on the attack as Marcus Cullen again from the edge of the box finds himself in space and tries a shot at goal Tom is quick to save. However there pressure is cut short as 8 minutes later the referee blows the whistle and it’s full time, giving Stoneham another win.

FULL TIME – AFC Stoneham 2-1 Bournemouth Poppies

AFC Stoneham 7 Fawley 2 - Russell Cotes Cup 16/11/21

AFC Stoneham 7-2 Fawley AFC

Russell Cotes Cup

AFC Stoneham comfortably ease into the next round of the Russell Cotes Cup with a well-earned 7-2

victory against Fawley AFC on Tuesday night. AFC Stoneham make 8 changes from the team that played

Bournemouth Poppies on Saturday afternoon, as well we also see some of the young players from

AFC Stoneham’s Development squad get a chance in the first team on the night.

AFC Stoneham start off brightly from kick off and have most of the chances at goal – when Ryan Penny

goes through on goal passes it to Duarte Martins who shoots but hits the post and goes out for a

goal kick. Another chance by Scott Hills goes a miss when he cuts inside and with his left foot shoots

but like previously it hits the bottom of the goal post and goes out for a goal kick. 8 minutes passes

and Scott hills buts AFC Stoneham 1-0 in the cup a great worked goal in which sees Jake Thomson

put in a good ball into the box from a corner in which Scott Hills shoots but takes a deflection off a

defender but the ball comes back to Hills feet and he puts it into the back of the net.

It takes just 4 minutes for AFC Stoneham to grab a second curtesy of Duarte Martins – Ryan Penny

plays the ball out to the right-hand side to Jake Thomson who brings it down on his chest and lays it

off to Duarte Martins who slots it into the back of the net making it 2-0 to Stoneham. A chance falls

to Scott Hills who collects the ball and passes it to Duarte Martins on the right, Martins plays a ball in

front of the goalmouth but no AFC Stoneham player can get on the end of it and the defender clears the

danger away. 16 minutes in Nathan Clements win the ball on the edge of the box and in space

shoots a low ball in the left-hand corner of the goal 3-0 to Stoneham.

Fawley have really come under pressure in the first 20 minutes of the game but they manage to have

a chance at goal when Dylan Knight finds himself in space and has a shot but his shot is well wide of

the goal and it causes no trouble for Ben Godwin in goal. For Stoneham the chances keep coming

when Cade Dyer plays a great ball into the box where Scott Hills meets the ball with his head but his

header hits the crossbar – a great chance to make it 4-0.

On the 26 th minute Nathan Clements makes it 4-0 to AFC Stoneham. Duarte Martins lays a good ball

off to Nathan Clements who at the edge of Fawley’s box shoots into the right-hand corner of the

goal. With all the action happening in Fawley’s halve of the pitch, Fawley manage to break free of

the constant pressure by Stoneham and come up with a good chance just before half-time. Nathan

Watkins plays a ball into the box but it is cleared away for a corner, Jack Stuttaro takes and Dylan

Knight headers it but Ben Godwin comes out and makes a great save.

Half Time AFC Stoneham 4-0 Fawley AFC.

Just before the start of the second half Fawley make the first substitution of the game with Jack

Stuttaro coming off and Sam Pithers coming on. AFC Stoneham start the second half lively just like in the

first half and come up with the first chance - when Jake Thomson, from a corner, plays a deep ball

into the box which falls to the feet of Scott Hills who shoots but the Lee Burch comes out and makes

the save. 50 minutes in Duarte Martins makes it 5-0, Jake Thomson pulls the keeper off his line and

lays the ball to his left into the path of Duarte who hits into the back of the net.

AFC Stoneham make their first substitution of the night with Jake Thomson making his way off for Ben

Backhurst. After the substitution we see Stoneham go 6-0, from a low range shot from the edge of

box curtesy of Duarte Martins once again. Soon after AFC Stoneham make another change with Duarte

Martins coming off and Jacob Gilpin taking his place alongside Stoneham Fawley make their second

change with James Clifton coming off and Jake Smith coming on. Fawley have a chance in the second

half to make it 6-1 when Tom Munday plays a great ball into the box and Sam Pithers, un marked,

has a free header and tucks it home to make it 6-1.

Fawley make their third and final substitution of the evening when Dane Sayce comes off and Jacob

Sheath comes on. Fawley temporarily go down to 10 men when Dylan Knight gets sinbinned for

what we assume is dissent by the player to the referee. A few chances come way for Stoneham but

none that really trouble the keeper.

Third and final substitution by Stoneham sees Nathan Clements make way for Diego Romero. Diego

plays a great ball over the top to Scott Hills who has to twist and turn to shake of the defenders

before he finally has some space to shoot and scores into the top left-hand corner of the goal 7-1 to

AFC Stoneham. 15 minutes later we see Fawley grab a second goal of the evening, James Elkins plays

some tricky football, he finally makes a past to Jake Smith on the edge of the box who side foots it

into the top right-hand corner of the goal.

SATURDAY ROUND UP

U7 Spitfires

U7 Spitfires continued their fine run of form against a very physical and organised side in Sholing Youth U7 White. The first quarter played out goalless with both teams testing each other out but with Sholing seeing more of the ball this continued in the second quarter but Spitfires managed to score 2 quick goals against the run of play with Jaydon and Donatello getting on the score sheet and we went in at half time with the lead. Sholing pulled one back after the break but the game was put out of reach by 2 quick goals by MOM Archie coupled with fine battling and defensive displays by Archie, Asher and Alfie before Finley capped off some great team passing with a goal.

U9 Girls

Under 9 girls continue to play amazingly and achieve positive results.

In our second game in division 1 we played away to an Alresford team who have been playing together for a season longer and the girls more than held there own.

It was an even 1st half with both teams failing to score from good play following some brilliant goalkeeping from both team.

We fell one behind in the 3rd quarter but through hard work and good play we got a deserved equaliser in the 4th Quarter.

Our goalscorer today was Chloe.

Shout out to Genevieve and Edith playing for the first time today, they were both brilliant and slotted in well with the other girl.

Girl of the game went to Genevieve.

Well done girls keep smiling.

Thanks to the parents too for their amazing support.

U10 Girls

Emily opened the scoring for AFC Stoneham (her first goal in a couple of seasons) with a tidy finish from the edge of the box.

Jessica H scored two, the second a long distance free kick.

Jessica Prince also scored two - although the second took at least two deflections before rolling over the line.

A clean sheet was another plus. All 3 girls in goal (Abigail, Aimee and Imogen) attend extra goalkeeping sessions with first team keeper Tom and his help seems to be working!

U11 Pumas

Whiteley 1 - 7 AFC Stoneham

Playing up a year, 9 a side, with no subs is no easy task but we grew into the game and ran out comfortable winners.

The focus today was retaining possession and our structure, and we did that really well. Despite conceding early on we didn’t panic and kept playing good football.

The game changed with two moments of quality, a shot from the edge of the box and some quick footwork and a slide rule pass and finish to put us 2-1 up. From there, we dominated the game.

Our 4 goalies were impressive today.

Aaliyah put in a 2020 throwback performance starting in goal then scoring two cracking goals. The first was all about pace and determination, the second a goal of the season contender from the edge of the box, absolute belter.

Next up, Erin, who is returning to form higher up the pitch as a 10, creating lots of opportunities for the team, scoring the opening goal and capping the performance off with a lovely L-Drag onto her right before slotting past the GK. Managers Player today, movement off the ball impressive.

Lauren showed great tenacity in midfield, won lots of headers and scored 2 goals but I think was most happy with her save on goal. Opposition player today, held your position brilliantly today.

Our final GK Abbi J gave us a nervy moment but came away with a clean sheet. Good in midfield, great in defence, made a big difference dropping back and showing lots of composure on the ball.

In defence, Sophie grew into the game, always calm on the ball and positive in her 1v1s. Always found space to receive from the goalie, really brave.

Roxy had a rock solid performance today and was positive in possession. Layla’s goal was a direct consequence of determination and positive passing. Put in a great midfield stint 2nd half.

Phoebe, dropped in at CDM and always showed for the ball. If I want anything from a player it’s a desire to receive the ball under pressure and release it to players in better positions. Our Veratti.

Tough shift out wide today, lots of graft required. Layla must’ve got bored hearing my voice but as always incredibly competitive and made her goal with sheer determination. Lots of quality on the ball too, played numerous breaking line passes.

Martha, up and down, taking players on, always holds her position and was up against their speed merchant No 12. Quietly did a great job today.

We’ve passed the ball better in the last 2 weeks than I’ve seen for a while which is important against bigger teams.

Keep the ball moving and we could win the league

U13 Girls

Away to Fordingbridge Turks who are unbeaten and beat us 2-1 early this season… a tough game ahead for our outstanding group of girls….

1st half we came out of the traps buzzing, our work rate was superb, no time on the ball for the opponent, we were swarming forward, wave after wave using our pace out wide…. What a start, we were dominant, then we got the goal. Sophie Freeman on the left squaring for Lillie Banks to fire home from close range. 0-1 up.

Defensively we stood firm, winning 1v1 battles and tackles across the pitch.

HT Fordingbridge 0-1 AFC Stoneham.

We were out working them but we asked for even more… more running more sprints, more effort. Wow, the girls gave it. Unbelievable to see.

Midfield and defence were performing at a new level. We had chances, their GK making a great save to deny Cherice.

Fordingbridge were hitting us on the break… but the defenders weren’t having any of it. Big tackles at the right time.

Our best performance so far this season….

FT Fordingbridge 0-1 AFC Stoneham

4 games unbeaten for the girls. Simply brilliant - all of them

U14 Boys Knights

U14 Knights beat Sway Juniors away 11-0 in the U15 Testway League Cup. Hatrick’s from Elliot & Ben, a brace for Brad and goals from Adrian, Kenz & Waseem with Kenz’s being an absolute thunderbolt from distance.

Mom was Kenz for a 2nd half performance to be proud of. Worked hard to get up and down the touch line and capped it off with the goal of the game.

Great sportsmanship from The Knights as well when they reduced their numbers to 8 players in the 2nd half to even the game out allowing the opposition more of the play .

This was an enjoyable morning out in the New Forest with ponies being shooed from the pitch & pony dung being shovelled off the pitch to allow kick off to commence!!

U16 Girls JPL

Today AFC Stoneham U16 JPL side had an away fixture in the Hampshire Cup against Eastleigh whites U16. Very positive start for the Purps, with a goal after 8 mins! The girls continued to apply pressure with Ede scoring a hatrick! Goals also coming from Molly Gladwell and Aimee Gritt.

Halftime the girls were a comfortable 7-0 up after some fantastic link up play and great finishing!

Second half, the manager changed the team up, and with one more goal coming from Kezia the game finished 8-0 with AFC Stoneham U16 jpl through to the next round of the Hampshire Cup

Some great results and match reports !

Well done to everyone

Sunday 21st Nov - Round Up

Sunday Round Up

U8 Panthers

What a great game that was today. We asked them to go back to basics, with high energy and passing, like the start of the season. They didn’t disappoint. From the start, they pressed and got their rewards.

David was excellent in goal, with some important rushing out. Oliver and birthday boy James was great in defence with some good passing and clearing, and James even got himself a goal.

Lucas and Ollie was great in midfield with again some important tackles, good passing and fast pressing. Harry again showed great determination and nice footwork and also got on the scoresheet with a high press interception from their goal kick. Jenson ‘the Goat’ was again all over the pitch and was very unselfish when he could have scored himself, but still managed to score 2 goals. But man of the match today went to my Midfield General Henry. From the moment he stepped onto the pitch he was everywhere, tackling, passing, tracking back and shooting. He scored 4 times including direct from a corner. Well done Henry. Well done all of you, very proud today.

U8 Thunder

A superb first half performance against a newly promoted side who boost some really neat players.

Thunder started of really well playing some lovely football and pulling the opponent’s apart. A quick two goals from, one from Archie and the other from Harry settled the team down. Second quarter we came out playing again and after Harry needed his second of the game with a neat bottom corner strike, we felt the game was secure.

This was partly the reason we let the opposition back in the game as we stopped playing the football that we displayed in the first half.

However an Eryk press and tackle saw him put himself in front of goal and finished comfortably.

A second of the game for Archie rounded off a convincing display.

Well done boys!!

U8 Spitfires

U8 Spitfires came up against AFC Hiltingbury Hurricanes in a very entertaining which was end to end. Spitfires came from behind on numerous occasions even with decisions going against us. Brody Hibberd was on fires in front of goal as was Elliott Finch, Adriano Philips and even Henry Polkinghorne was on fire from the penalty spot after going on goal in for majority of game as our normal keeper was not available. So proud of these boys for there fight in the last few games. POM went to Zachary Curtis who was solid throughout.

U9 Royals

AFC Stoneham U9 Royals had a great game vs St Francis knights, who had previously given us our toughest game of the season. The boys battled well throughout in a tense end to end game that could’ve gone either way. Special mentions go to Oakley and Leo who were excellent in defence and to Nathaniel who ran his socks off up and down the wing. The goals came from Dexter and Lucas showing calm finishes from the edge of the box. MOTM today went to Archer who was solid in goal throughout with great distribution and box command. However an outstanding final quarter with multiple 1v1 saves saw him take the award, with Leo in a close second. A great performance and shows how the lads have improved individually and as a team!

U9 Spitfires

A good performance from the boys today against a spirited Millbrook Hurricanes team. The boys have really started to gel over the last couple of weeks. The performance was really positive and there was lots of passing and supporting play. Goals for Jakub, Reuben, Tomo & Marley. MotM was Sam. Well done boys!

U10 Wolves

Facing a strong, physical and well organised Netley Royals, the Wolves felt prepared for the task and confident of an upset!

The Royals were limited to 2 goals without reply. A disappointing result but a performance to be proud of.

Today we discovered 3 leaders, each given a team responsibility at the start and each of them delivered. Dominik controlled his back line in his first extended outing in central defence, when Jude moved into midfield his positioning and bravery were both excellent and Noah was suddenly fighting for every team cause.

Special mentions to Reuben who kept us in the game with 3 very special saves, one outstanding, and Dash who, in a pivotal 2nd quarter kept everything together by combining determined defending with his trade mark forward dribbles

The front 3, in various combinations of Oskar P, Adam, Finn, Noah and Jude passed as a team in the approach play and all we now lack is the final pass at the right time and we will have more goals galore!

Tyler played well in his first game in defence, Rayane continues to develop in defence and Rivers improved again this time in midfield.

Wolf of the Week, for his leadership qualities both in training this week and at today's match, is Jude.

U10 Spitfires

Top quality team performance from the Under 10 Spitfires today. Turned into a comfortable 5-0 win. Chamberlayne were restricted to only a few long range efforts, which then allowed Charlie to produce a couple of top draw saves. With goals from Forbsey, Alfie and a hat trick for Freds. MOTM went to Forbsey for his goal and all round composure on the ball throughout

U11 Lions

Brilliant performances from all today, a much needed confidence boosting victory. A special mention goes out to Maisy for her hat-full of goals but Man Of The Match was scooped up by Josh who didn’t put a foot wrong all game. A brilliant performance to warm up a cold Sunday morning. Up The Lions!

U12 Spitfires

U12 Spitfires played top of the league Millbrook who have a 100% record this season and the boys gave them a close run game and arguably were the better team. Score line was harsh on the boys who lost 4-2 but the performance was excellent. The score could have gone the other way but punished for a few mistakes.

Harry Halligan scoring both our goals and won POM but have to say the whole teams effort was a credit to the boys

U13 Spitfires

U13 AFC Stoneham Spitfires v Southside Wolves.

The whole team put in a fantastic effort today. We played some wonderful football and were unlucky to be 0-0 at half time. With the percentage of play swinging in our favour, we got the goal we deserved and went on to win the game 1-0. Goal scored by Logan. The whole team were outstanding and a credit to our club.

Well done Spitfires

U14 Panthers

U14 Panthers produced a great first half display on their way to beating Hiltingbury 2-1. The boys started on the front foot and controlled the game before taking the lead through the excellent Will Hosmer, who drifted past two players before slotting the ball into the back of the net. Shortly afterwards, Will was brought down inside the box following some great skill to draw in the defender. Will got to his feet and dispatched the resulting penalty to help the boys lead 2-0 at half time. The pattern of play continued through the opening phase of the second half, with Will having a chance to score a hat trick, however somehow his shot ended up over the bar. Hiltingbury then scored with 10 minutes left, however following this the game became very scrappy and the boys denied any further opportunities. The players voted Charlie Bellinger and Will as players of the match. Charlie was making his debut for the team, and was excellent throughout.

U14 Knights

U14 Knights beat Eastleigh in the Community 3-0 away from home in Tyro Div 1. Goals were scored by Adrian - free kick (30’), Will (53’) and Elliot (55’). MOM was Sam for his constant threat, work rate and support play

U14 Royals

Tough day at the office for The Royals. We never really turned up and the opposition wanted it more. We learnt a hard lesson in a 9-0 loss. Special thanks to Euan and Ollie for taking one for the team and doing a half each in goal.

U15 Spitfires

U15 Spitfires were excellent away to AFC Totton winning 4-3. After a slow 1st half boys went in 1-1 at half time then found themselves 3-1 down with 2 break away goals early in 2nd half. Boys then re-grouped and dominated the game and deservedly went on to win 4-3. Great performance. Goals were scored by Taylor Waters (hat trick) and Owen Leece. POM went to Fergus Mitchell-Moore who battled hard throughout.

U16 United

United 1 - 1 Hamble

Hindley (pen)

Sadler (MotM)

A scrappy, tetchy game today in which we were 0-1 at the break and fought hard in the second half to come away with a point.

U16 Galaxy

An improved display by Galaxy this afternoon has hopefully kick started their season. a committed attitude resulted in them winning their 1st point as they drew 2-2 with Littleton.

A great finish from Keiran Kandiah got them off the mark with the 2nd an OG after some excellent work from Davi de Paula.

Up the purps
